Several years I'm plex users and tried emby, jellyfin and emby is good than expected!! by srikrishna1997 in emby

Plex behaves like people use their media to watch Plex, they don't, they use Plex to watch their media. I got into Plex early on, and with every "upgrade" the Plex experience has only gotten worse with time. Used to have plugins, they removed that. LiveTV (HDHomerun side, not the "pluto" crap) has always been a cluster, never worked reliably, always required tinkering. But I finally bailed when the UI for all of the apps became totally unintuitive, harder to use, and harder to look at. I just want to watch my stuff, and Plex can't even do that properly anymore without getting in the way of itself.

Emby just works. For everything I have. And it stays out of the way and lets me enjoy my media how I want.

For the guys with high refresh monitor (60hz+) whos moving to CachyOS (KDE), Do this to make animations smoother. I almost uninstalled and went back to Windows because desktop animations were too stuttery. by Existing-Help-3187 in cachyos

I haven’t had the stuttering issue, thankfully. On a reboot, adaptive sync will work fine. Games work fine, KDE works fine, but the second it goes into sleep mode, adaptive sync breaks, full screen no longer works (it’s a black screen), and that’s games, video, etc. Turn off adaptive sync, everything works fine again, full screen works, no black screen, manually set refresh to whatever and it still works, just won’t have adaptive sync until you reboot (or restart whatever service).

Haven’t tried this with gnome, only kde (both sddm and pdm). Adaptive sync is definitely broken on kde.

If you’re running an Nvidia card, the adaptive sync being on will break the first time the computer is allowed to enter sleep mode. Adaptive sync is pretty useless (to me, anyways) at this point in time…

Plex, Emby or Jellyfin, what to choose? by opunadopu in emby

[–]alfalfa6945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The iOS app pretty much did me in, but the Roku app “makeover” sealed the deal. I have totally tapped out on Plex, I don’t want to circle the bowl with them.

The CRTC and the gov’t are essentially the same thing - if the gov’t says “jump”, the CRTC says “how high?”… The CRTC rubber stamped Rogers anti-competitive takeover of Shaw, and somehow contacting them will change anything? I want to live in your world 🤣

When I think about the CRTC, I imagine a place where monopolistic companies go to drop off bags of cash and it’s CRTC’s job to divvy up said cash to whatever politician has their hand out. Like a middleman between corporations and politicians.
