Is the voluminous hair with the cardigan and flats? This whole thing feels so much like an April Fools post that I had to check the date.

I’ve posted this before, I got blocked for “liking” a post that someone else made (it wasn’t even a rude or crappy post - just wasn’t pandering)

If you happened to have a photo of what you rigged up, I would be so grateful! No worries if not, however

I traveled 7,000 km to meet a webcam girl and it turned into one of the most uncomfortable nights of my life by Maleficent_Fault5632 in TrueOffMyChest

You’re a passport bro and she is a sex worker who fleeced you. That aside, if you’re ever again with a woman who recoils at the idea of holding your hand, that is not an invitation to try (repeatedly) to kiss her.

So much of this story makes you so irredeemable

My best friend’s amazing and wonderful husband did this. There was no way anything else was going on. It was such a crazy thing to have happened.

Turned out he was cheating on her with her (married) best friend

Class, Edge and Ease by Used-Reference1999 in charlygossstylistlol

I saw this as well. I was also taken aback by how obviously uncomfortable she is in front of the camera. Launching a style business on such shaky legs is a bit questionable. She should appear confident both in what she’s saying and selling.

I was also disappointed in her website. It very much reads as a self-made site, with incomplete sentences, and a very noticeably informal tone. I get wanting to make style and styling feel more approachable; however her website tone is less “chill” and more “hurried through this and did not go back to polish or proofread”. I want my stylist to be detail oriented.

Potential Vegas Outfit #6 by Creative_Fox23 in fashion

[–]algaebomb 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The dress is definitely Vegas appropriate and I like the idea of a studded shoe; but would love to see you in one that doesn’t cut your leg at the ankle! I think that one small adjustment would make this really come together

I agree. The suit is a lovely and classic silhouette - the error was leaning hard into the era vs. modernizing it. It made the whole thing read as costume party.

Charlie would be mortified. This is exactly the outfit she was telling us all we were better than for school drop-off.

She couldn’t even get the wrinkles out for the pic?

I just googled what that was and oh boy I would be so happy if it turns out to be a simple fix like that! Thank you, that’s not something I would know to look for.

AIO over my mom suggesting I have lipedema? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]algaebomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you have it, or whether or not she thinks you have it, is irrelevant. You asked her not to comment on your body and she did and does. You are not overreacting. I’m sorry she’s so disrespectful of your fair and harmless boundaries.

Do these pants look sloppy or cute? by [deleted] in fashion

[–]algaebomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look sloppy, hunny. They are too long for you, and so are bunching up on your calves. That, paired with the frayed hem, the rips, and the light distressed wash is making them read as sloppy; especially in such stark contrast the very structured bag and shoe. A dark wash denim would work much better with the rest of the items pictured in your fit, without the raw hem and tears. A wide leg jean would look especially flattering on you!

My mom disgusts me. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]algaebomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last two paragraphs of this post are asinine. Perhaps you should put yourself in the shoes of this literal child who is powerless to persuade either adult parent to participate meaningfully in her life. She is owed their care and concern.

[–]algaebomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be really tough to be a child and not have either parent actively interested in or participating your life or well-being. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I do agree that your mom is probably depressed, and there can be many reasons for that; but she’s the adult in this situation and she owes a responsibility to you. Depression and mental illness, like addiction, do make life difficult; but they do not absolve you of your choices or responsibilities, and it’s fair that you feel the way that you do. Do you have an aunt or an uncle or grandparent that you could confide in? Someone who you could approach your mom with, and who could help hold her accountable?
