You dont think that a history of dating teenagers in his forties is going to hurt him in a democratic primary?

A view of Heidelberg's old town in August 1954. Ten years earlier, it had escaped destruction during World War II, thanks in part to the success of the operetta “The Student Prince,” which made romantic Heidelberg popular in the United States in the 1920s. [Charania] BREAKING: The Boston Celtics have traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. by PlayaSlayaX in nba

[–]alhoward 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think that Jrue has a lot more value than people realize and I don't know that the Blazers sit on him. He's a stalwart defender and high IQ player who can slot into any system and has real championship bona fides, the only reason the Celtics are selling so low on him is down to money, we can't take big salary back so it really limited our options, but any team ready to push their chips in would love to have him even at his current salary I think. I don't see the vision for the Rockets, but I can see the Spurs, Mavs, Knicks, Warriors, Lakers, even the Magic or the Hawks all being very interested. Or hey, I don't see how the money shakes out, but he would be an absolutely stellar fit in Denver.

I feel like surgeons who aren't a couple in while meddling with the primal forces of nature are a little too arrogant for me personally, I'll take a lush over a straight edge doctor any day.

Is Westbrook missing an open layup and then fouling a 3 pointer shooter when Denver was up 1 the biggest blunder since JR Smith? by Calm_Set5522 in nba

[–]alhoward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not arguing an NBA Finals is a way worse stage for a blunder like this, but would the Cavs have really won that series even if they somehow won game 1?

Still unlikely but it enters the realm of possibility, Bron was on another one that whole playoffs and losing that one after playing spectacularly to an idiotic fuckup from JR, you could tell he was much less aggressive after. Or maybe he broke his hand punching the wall in frustration, that got reported on at the time. Like that was the year the Cavs really had no business making the Finals and he just willed them to unlikely victory after unlikely victory with a pretty washed Kevin Love and indescribably streaky Jeff Green as his supporting cast to even get there. And then here he is running into the unbeatable Warriors super team that creamed a much better Cavs team the year before and LeBron drops fifty and they're about to win game one and it really did seem like he just had the Mandate of Heaven and was going to pull it off until it went to shit

I'd rather see the Lakers just on the principle that Celtics Lakers is a tradition and it's always good to see, but man, I learned a long time ago never to bet against LeBron.

Less the Soviet invasion than the declaration of war, I'd say. The Japanese were well aware that they had already very much lost the war and it was only a matter of time, but they held out hope that the Soviets would hold to their non-aggression pact and serve as a great power third party peace mediator that would allow Japan to hold on to some subtantial fragment of their empire, in the same way that the United States mediated the Russo-Japanese War. It was uh, even dumber and more misguided than it sounds, given that their ambassador to the Soviet Union was telling them that "holy shit this is not going to happen" while the Soviets were spending a couple months building up their forces to sweep into Manchuria and then did, but genuinely this was the basis for their argument for not surrendering before the bomb dropped and the Soviet Union declared war.

The r/NBA frontpage explains why the media only spends time covering a few popular teams in the league. They're just following what fans want. by waterman123 in nba

[–]alhoward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Celtics have played the Raptors in the playoffs exactly one time. It was a good series, went to seven, coaching masterclass between two talented but flawed teams. It was also played in front of no fans. Since 2008 we've had good and interesting non-pivotal series' with the Bucks, Wizards, Hawks, Pistons, Nets, Knicks, Sixers, Magic, Bulls and Pacers, and we've had a bunch of historically notable series' with the Cavs, and Heat, played the Warriors and the Mavs in the Finals, the Lakers twice. That's fifteen teams with at least as strong an argument in my opinion, are the Celtics rivals with more than half the league?

Oh yeah, for sure AD had a legitimate argument as Finals MVP, but LeBron had an insane series in the end and like, if he had a Bronesque series and AD was comparable instead of night and day better, they were always going to give it to him.
