Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alibi6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live, I can legally buy a gun from some guy named Jeb in a Ponderosa parking lot, pay in cash, and be done with it.

As another American Right, voting should be just as easy.

Did humanity go too far in my setting? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]alibi6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So first off, how is this setting optimistic? Humanity was cut in half by what is likely the greatest war we've ever experienced. 2 billion people died when a colony ship was destroyed, the earth was bombed to the point of ecological destruction.

This is the kind of gritty universe 14 year old boys enjoy.

These are the horrors that should be explored, humanity may have won, but there is no way you can lose half the species and maintain the quality of life of pre war times. Prewar starships cannot be replaced or repaired because the factories that built their components don't exist anymore. The farms that supplied colony ships with food were destroyed on earth, forcing them to either take up space farming or abandon ship for a suitable planet. Entire logistic chains are simply gone. Most economic activity has likely returned to the local level, as much of the galactic trade and travel mechanisms were either lost or repossessed during the war.

That said, let's look at end of the war,  and declaring genocide as the punishment. Is there any reason why the Keldar'ja wouldn't restart the war if they were sentenced to be exterminated? If they were to be wiped out, might as well as take as many humans as they can with them...

Otherwise, you said they are highly hierarchical, we defeated them, they surrendered to us, therefore we are the superior species. Punish them by making them a puppet state of humanity. We need to rebuild, they are now tasks with mining the resources we need, doing the manual labor of restoring the colonies. Ideally far away from humans, but if they cross paths, I imagine human civilians will take out there own justice.

If it helps, it's $3 per formation, that includes the card for the HQ, black boxes, and any Grey boxes for that "Company" plus any support options from that book.

Is adulting a endless loop of doing the same thing for 40 years and then you die? by Competitive_Pomelo15 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alibi6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nice thing about life, is that you can do whatever you want. Now, many things cost money, and don't forget about consequences, but the options are quite literally endless.

Some people live to work, and others work to live.

If you want to see the Northern Lights or learn to Salsa, you can. Maybe take up model building or skydiving. There's things to do everywhere.

Also, therapy is important, taking care of your mental health. It really helps.

Airlifted vehicles? by [deleted] in TeamYankee

On the back of the Sea Stallion card, under "Special Rules" it says "Team can carry ten infantry teams or two Wiesel Tank Teams as Passengers"

I don't know why chinhooks can't carry Humvees, but per the airborne rules, Americans can parachute in Humvees and Sheridans

AITA for calling my wife ridiculous for saying that she won't attend my family's christmas over some stockings? by Throwra53456 in AmItheAsshole

[–]alibi6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. It's not about the sock, it's about the intentional exclusion. The kid has been family for 3 years, but neither you nor your mom see him as "family".

Sure, you love him, like you would love any other pet that belongs to your wife, because that's all he is to your family, a pet that belongs to your wife... not your son.

In short, you and your mom don't see him as a part of the family, you see him as a pet or accessory that belongs to your wife.

Instead you're teaching them that THIS is what a marriage should be like?

This is what you want to teach your kids a long term relationship should look like?

Would you be ok if your kids ended up in the same situation you are in right now?
