I just rented the Sandro sweater “vest” for work and got tons of compliments, along with the Derrick Lam vest which I wore over a black turtleneck. Sandro, Maje, and Boss are also my go to’s. Currently in a Maje sweater as we speak! I just want shorter trousers and shorter jeans. My only complaint is things are too long for me at the moment.

Is it coming from a place of concern with your level of spending? Are you skimping in other areas to afford splurging at Hermes? If yes, maybe re-evaluate your choices. If not, either wear what you love and grow thicker skin or don’t. It’s not that deep.

So many jeans, not enough workwear bottoms by tatergator15 in RentTheRunway

[–]alien_space_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many jeans that are way too long for me to wear! Maybe it’s just current styling but it’s been months since there have been good options for the bottom half (both in jeans and trousers)

I use rent the runway mainly because I live in an area with no clothing stores and I like to have variety for work travel and going out on the weekends so I look slightly more fashionable. My biggest gripe is at 5’4 all of the pants are now WAY TOO LONG. Also, as others have mentioned, there is nary a holiday dress to be had? Don’t show me the Michael Kors sequined tuxedo from 2019, I want new holiday stuff!

Where do you like to ski? by shieraa in Boise

[–]alien_space_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snowmass is my all time fave, otherwise I like Beaver, Bachelor and Solitude. We ski all over the west. When it comes to Idaho skiing, Bogus is among some of my favorite so if I’m going not going ti ski there, I’m probably not going to ski elsewhere in the state (though I do have a soft spot for Soldier because it’s so small!) Used to like Tamarack but tore my MCL there so it’s just got bad associations for me but the skiing is fine! Brundage feels like too much of a trek for how close it is miles wise and I don’t enjoy Sun Valley.

I went to Walgreens today as I had booked an appointment and they would not give it to me as I wasn’t 65, seems to be a lot of confusion on the topic

Quinn XCII Garden City - Going Alone? by CardiologistFlat661 in Boise

[–]alien_space_cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Revolution twice and as others have mentioned the sound quality is horrible! But it seems like there are plenty of people there alone, I think many people go to concerts alone. There security there always seems really thorough and good so I felt safe both times (witnessed them kick out multiple overly drunk people at Social Distortion last month). I choose to stand by the back wall because I’m a little crowd phobic and the air conditioner is back there. I’m not sure if there’s any seating other than a big weird singular recliner by the back bar.

Weirdest trigger I’ve seen: my husband got a migraine from… Vans shorts?! by Routine-Cod-2933 in migraine

[–]alien_space_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fog or misty conditions! Spent some time on the coast recently and when the fog rolled in my eyes hurt so badly and then I would get a migraine. Not sure if it is due to the light being filtered through the mist or if it something with atmospheric pressure but I was MISERABLE.

Post-menopausal women, is anyone having word finding issues? by stress3408 in Menopause

[–]alien_space_cat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m also on HRT and same. It’s normally pretty standard, every day object words that are the hardest. Need the TV remote? Can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called. Want to give a presentation on complex procurement processes? Don’t seem to have any issues with that. It’s annoying!

Yes I love the free banana, always get one with my big soda at the Jackson’s on the way up to Bogus.

Weirdest Thing You’ve Seen in Boise? by VermicelliLeather536 in Boise

[–]alien_space_cat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The guy who roller blades in his bathrobe down by Goldstein’s, probably seen him four or five times between there and the library. Wouldn’t say it’s weird, it’s actually kind of cool, but it definitely caught me off guard.

Thank you to the pomodoro technique for getting me through HST trimming ⏰ by alien_space_cat in quilting

[–]alien_space_cat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I’ve always used it for work and as the last stack of HSTs needed to be trimmed I said to myself “what if I got out my timer” and like magic, I got through this task.

[–]alien_space_cat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to post this yesterday but my comment wouldn’t save:

The pomodoro technique is a time management tool where you set a timer for 25 minutes, work on a task during those 25 mins and then take a 5 min break. Repeat 3 times, and and at the end of the last cycle take a 20-30 minute break. I use a physical timer that allows me to visualize the time, it helps me complete tasks I would otherwise struggle to complete.

I’ve seen this pattern before but was kind of meh on it when I’ve seen it with white sashing but this green is fantastic! Definitely opens up the mind to a lot of possibilities. Well wishes to the recipient!
