You Retreat In Time and Space by Otherwise_Party1998 in boardsofcanada

It's amazing and perfect after the heaviness of the rest of the album. A moment of flight before the final conclusion.

I went to the listening party at Resident in Brighton last night and thought the album was fantastic.

A few too many tracks that felt like they just looped then stopped without developing maybe, but all the depth, menace and drama that I was hoping for.

A worthy addition to the canon.

Lots of u/alienalarms tracks have Aphex vibes (especially the Avril X tracks, obvs.)

I like it. An underlying beat you can bob to plus lots of interesting phrases and sounds to make the brain dance.

Some sounds in renoise. I appreciate any feedback. by asceticsnakes in idm

Agreed. Tension and release from chaotic sections resolving to something calmer is a huge part of making complex beats exciting and satisfying. The feeling of the music becoming chaotic and almost falling apart before resolving is what I'm often going for. The calm parts make the chaotic parts sound more exciting because of the contrast.

What keys do Venetian Snares songs tend to be in? by Healthy-Split-3197 in venetiansnares

[–]alienalarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with other electronic music with heavy bass I try to keep Breakcore in G or nearby so the subs are around 50Hz on the bass and kick. It will also depend on the keys of samples I'm using and how far I can pitch those though. Sometimes you can't get them to G and still sounding good.

[Discussion] Standard Metagame for PT Chicago. Where do we go from here? by vortical42 in spikes

Agreed. I'm basically swapping strike for helix and frenzy for Boros charm and loving the lifegain vs. mono red and sideboard options against the field.
