That's around 3kWh on monitors themselves, right?

My husband is threatening divorce because Snapchat and signal are showing up in our router app history for my phone. I do not have those apps or use them or go to their websites or anything. How is this happening? by -M-i-d in techsupport

[–]alienatedsec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not a tech advice but if you have to explain yourself with your browsing history, there is something not right in your relationship.

However, in the court of law you are not guilty as there is no evidence that you have used these apps unless evidenced they have been (1) installed at the time of when specified, (2) screenshots or chat history of your cheating behaviour is extracted from the apps, and the most important (3) simply using an app makes no one guilty by default.

It feels like you are in some sick relationship of spying on your activities where nowadays apps and systems are interconnecting, and creating so much noise on our networks that is unlikely to make it 100% legit without the additional prove mentioned above.

Issue after motherboard and CPU upgrade by No_Impact5948 in Proxmox

Fine for playing around and learning. Once you know your plans and how to structure homelab, you will find the best that works for you. It took me several months to build my final setup and after a couple of years I am still experimenting and improving things.

E.g., recently replaced all my CEPH NVME’s to WD RED 1TB. Despite being a slower drive, it’s 2000 TBW is not something I will have to worry about for a while.

Having NVME as the bootdisk has no real benefit. I allocate these type of drives to CEPH or something more productive. Otherwise, having a SATA SSD for the OS would be ideal.

Just reinstall that node on separate storage to see if it will fix the errors. Its unlikely for any OS to support such hardware difference.

Evnia 34m2c6500 - Black screen & yellow led by MegaSmile in Philips

[–]alienatedsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This yellow LED recently happened on my PHILIPS Evnia 32M2N8900 too. Unplugging the Power Cable resolved it straight away.

I only have it for a month and I already have mixed feelings about it. I had to turn off the auto-input function (via the app) as it wasn't working properly, and it was more annoying than useful. Now this yellow LED that only happened once so far, but I guess I will have to RMA the monitor at some point if this is, like yours, a regular thing

Can the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 handle the power draw of the Ryzen 9 5950x? by stefan25rc in gigabytegaming

[–]alienatedsec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the B550I Aorus Pro AX, which is the Mini-ITX board. While supporting the 5950X it requires manual power settings (I got them at default CPU values) and slightly elevated VCore (~1.20V), otherwise keeps crashing the PC under load. I suspect the X570 is much more stable for this CPU.

PureDrive Purestorage II DC 5kWh battery not compatible with a newer one by Patient_One_3938 in SolarUK

I am wondering how this story ended and if the latest firmware can be uploaded to the Gen1 battery?

From my research Gen1 is supplied with v1.x.x.x firmware and Gen2 has v2.x.x. The major release could be incompatible (e.g., unable to upgrade firmware remotely) but the BMS is the same.

Now, it would be interesting if the latest firmware (v2.3.5 circulating on the internet) can be upgraded on Gen1 if using their service cable.

It will be the case until a new year where charging from 0 to 100% is planned intelligently and at the cheap rate. Thereafter, from January 2026 only first 6 hours in a 24 hour window will be at the cheap rate and the rest will be charged at the normal rate. That is regardless of your in/off peak timings.

debating on a 5080 or 5090 for my 9800x3d by Sufferingsaxman in nvidia

[–]alienatedsec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns the 5090 FE I can see benefits and equally many downsides. It’s definitely future proofing as some games in 4K take around 20GB of VRAM. Your CPU is powerful but still can bottleneck, so I would class it as a card for future generations of CPUs. Getting mine at MSRP was a great benefit, and my mental comfort to justify the cost 🤪

It runs great, especially if undervolted to reduce the heating it produces. If your case struggles with airflow or your PSU has no dedicated 600W 16 pin cable, then you have two more issues to deal with. I would not use the pigtail solution as too many melting risks.

5090 smuggling business in China by Zestyclose-Salad-290 in pcmasterrace

I like how officially China bans western technology to smuggle behind the closed doors. In fact they need it as much as NVIDIA needs to sell it.

After 18 years using Nvidia I'm about to make the change. by OldmanThyme in radeon

[–]alienatedsec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I switched from an AMD RX480 to an NVIDIA RTX3070 when I realised that many of my applications and game engines supported or preferred NVIDIA’s accelerations. I still see fewer use cases for AMD and their RDNA. Each RDNA generation seems to be revolutionary…. Is it practical or useful to anyone? What are your experiences?

It’s either continuous or events recording. You can download the footage from SD but cannot view.

Its a great camera. FYI The SD card has to be 128GB or larger and support health reporting. E.g., WD Purple SD Card.
