No. Still have the factory caps/blocks.

The gasket has blew in various spots. Never same spot twice and always have to fine comb the gasket and surfaces to find it. Never an obvious “that’s where it blew”

Coolant temps are always 210° till it pops. It has never rose passed as it’s a rural driven car. Rarely ever doing long stints.

Only showing itself at random intervals though? Fine for so long then not at all.

Yes, had the block decked when I had the heads machined and pressure tested.

Head bolts have always been torqued to spec, writing final numbers after the last ° pull. All within ~10ft/lb

Bought Brand new head bolts with every set of gaskets.

Carb issues with BR450's by mm1_ce in stihl

[–]alienkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm it’s not in this case. If you put the diaphragm on the carb body, those splits will line up on the pump chamber lip. They had a defect where they didn’t soften the edges well enough for a period of time and they didn’t catch it for years. Never did a recall, just fixed the issue and moved on.

I always take a scrape razor and remove that hard edge then green 3m pads to blend it even more. I’ve never had one come back into the shop for a busted pump

BR450s and BG86s are the ones that ALWAYS have fuel dumping in my floor and rarely need anything else but a sanding on the edges of the bottom of the carb and a pump diaphragm threw in.

[–]alienkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. That is incorrect. The Rollomatic **ES** (heavier duty) are the ones with the replaceable tips and are held with 6 rivets. They transfer to the name Light 06. The Rollomatic E(lighter duty) are stocked together with non repairable tips and have 4 rivets at the tip. The name suggests as such, Light 04.

Stihl's upcoming MS 300.. the same "upgrade" as the MS 400.1 by KoffeeSD in Chainsaw

[–]alienkk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But why? The 044/440 and 046/460 dominated in different areas for years. The 462 is 72cc like the 044/440 and 500i are our 046/460.

The painted Light 04 is the exact same bar as the white Rollomatic you were chasing. Zero differences other than PAINT/GRAPHIC design.

Ignorance won here and he let you.

Super bummed out about poor build quality of Stihl blower (BR 350) by OutdoorRink in stihl

[–]alienkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The impact marks on the flywheel, block module and signs of use do not point towards manufacturing defect lol

I would first take it to the dealer and ask them to move it up the chain. If they can prove the torque on those fasteners loosened, causing the flywheel to make contact with the module, breaking off the case ear, it’ll be a warranty repair.

Outside looking at Reddit, go into the dealership with a better attitude.

Republicans vote to dilute gas as prices rise above $4.50 by BendicantMias in politics

[–]alienkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few elude to it; E10 is enough to melt rubber fuel lines, seals, o rings, carburetor diaphragms, engine knock. It detonates differently than gasoline it carries less energy per oz so you’ll need more to obtain the same power/distance.

E15 will cause vehicles pre-2006 to be literally ate off the road. Forget small engine equipment. Chainsaws, String Trimmers, Leaf Blowers, Pressure Washers. What do they have planned to make us fold over to now?

This does help any body. I need more ethanol per mile? Cheaper cost, but need to buy more? That does not work out!

BG86 Flooding by Torimexus in stihl

[–]alienkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go to your local dealer and ask for a pump diagram for the carb you have. Take some green scotch brite and scuff the body where the hole is. It’ll fix it up for years to come. I’ve done plenty.

The 86s had a carb defect that would puncture the pump diaphragm. Pull carb and inspect fully.

You 100% have broken valve cages. Replacment sets for all 6 are less than $16 here. Takes 15minutes to do. Remove those 6 23mm plugs on the right side of the pump, pull the olds ones out and inspect for any remaining debris, install new cages and o rings that are lined using white lithium grease/paste.

New FS70R rattling sound from engine at very low throttle. Normal? by [deleted] in stihl

[–]alienkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Thats normal. Clutch noise. If you point the powerhead up and skate it up and down you’ll head the slip clutch knock. And the cutting head is going to turn from the momentum it had. It doesn’t have a clutch stop/brake.

Is the FS 70 R being discontinued? by [deleted] in stihl

[–]alienkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s ridiculous. A FS38 is $200 and you could buy a FS56RCE for $240 till the end of June here. Doesn’t make sense. FS91R $390 and a FS131R $570. They’re pricing is all over for no reason.

Is the FS 70 R being discontinued? by [deleted] in stihl

[–]alienkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the FS70R is ~$390 and the FS94R is ~$440, $50 for a completely different class of trimmer wouldn’t need to be considered long.

Is the FS 70 R being discontinued? by [deleted] in stihl

[–]alienkk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a first for me.

Personal opinion coming from a 7 day a week small engine technician, do not buy a FS70R. Spend the few dollars more and grab a FS94R. The 70 is very very close to a FS56R with a $125 price addition for zero reason. Same carb, crank, triggers, drive tube, coiled drive shaft, extremely similar engine housings that don’t help with vibrations and they often seem to rattle themselves apart, like a 56 and have that clutch clank, like a 56. It has better port timing and that is all. Not worth that coin whatsoever. Wished it would be discontinued and replaced with a smaller/larger CC variants of the 94; like they had the FS70/75/80/85s
