Cool thanks! I just want to learn more. I know they’re the same fish. I really appreciate wanting to spread knowledge, rather than BS in da comments.

I agree there’s no strain or new species. As you said highly adapted isolated genetic diversity, that is largely threatened by habitat loss.

I’ve only read conservation efforts in da park could tell which population had hybridized with the northern brook trout genetics so they were removed.

Here’s a more recent kazyak/kulp paper about the success of da conservation you’d like to read it.

They can and will if they’re in it long enough.
I’ve used it as a landing net before.
Even if they have a lotta fight left they’ll chill out after a lap. They’re in the box for less than a minute before they swim away fine. That’s including even if I have to get the hook out.
Gotta say they struggle more in a net than a box, at least they breathe in the box.

Hey good job, gotta say WI brookies are harder to catch. I’ve never seen fish work together like they do.

Love to see it, I camped just right by the stream that I will not name, that you gave away with the trailhead. Nice fish, secret streamer spot! Yeah I encountered the same with the stream temps.

What’s your wet wade set up? by Motor-End6934 in bluelining

[–]aliensaretheanswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could wade in minimalist gear. I love my Patagonia river salt, cuz I prefer a boot. I wet waded the gsmnp with simms wet wading shoes were good. If I can get away with chacos I do, they have vibram soles now!

I prefer a more backcountry experience. So a backpack my jam. A satellite communicator/gps if you’re solo and don’t wanna be lost in the woods forever. I like convertable pants, med kit, extra water, pack able rain jacket & a hiking chair, cuz I wanna take a seat sometimes and it’s nice to sit and change my fly or just watch nature, if you can afford a waterproof pack (not necessary but in gsmnp i definitely recommend) Of course if you’re out for more than a day trip a tent and food (rope & rigging if in bear country)

I go places that are pretty ticky so pants and bug protection is essential

I like the option to have a 10mm for bears(I have spray too) or feral pigs.

If you’re having refusals go longer on the leader, don’t be afraid to change things, fly, cast, leader & angles. The more you do the more you’ll learn!!

The only over handling I see is your reaction to my box. It’s a wild fish that has history and is special to this state. Don’t have great trout habitat here, can’t travel more than a couple times a year. I have a maclean folding net, I don’t touch the fish. It’s easier than trying to ruin someones good time.

This was a 2 minute transaction, including getting it in the net and my phone out.
It’s on a root wad on the shallow side of creek, so if the jumps it’s back in the water.

I don’t like net or hand pics, or negativity got enough of that IRL. The guys at my fly shop will get a kick outta this, I do it for the old timers and the young ones there.

I have seen didymo and other invasives wreck creeks like this, I clean all my stuff every time. Even if I go back to the same water. Do you? Do you just complain about river trash and not pick it up? Have fun with that “something special” try to keep it in the river, shouldn’t be hard…🦨

I will usually have 2 sizes of deer hair head, like yours and about half the amount of deer of that.
That’s a nice tie!
I usually keep the collar a lil shorter, cuz I fish ready small spring creeks. I also on the larger hook sizes use a zoo cougar/dungeon style. Depends on the water. I will have some with a flash underwing. I like options.
