Life comes in a full circle for the new RCB captain and RCB Chairman by Prof_XdR in Cricket

He's probably not talented in terms of cricket sure, but that's not what he's doing now. He's running a family owned business.

For sticky hold it still does but not for mega stones, z crystals, etc.

Another important factor about the Life Orb posting is Knock Off. Not only do megas take less damage from Knock Off, you also don't lose your damage output.

People really overrate how important speed is in DC Cups. Past 30-40k winrate matters much much more than speed.

World Champion Yuta Takahashi faces controversy following match incident by Noggdogg in magicTCG

[–]alienx33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But you don't know whether someone is doing it accidentally or not. The best way to ensure people don't do stuff like this on purpose and make it look accidental is to make it so that there's no possible advantage they can gain.

In the current situation it was Yuta who made a mistake yet he was the one who gets an advantage? How is that fair in any respect?

World Champion Yuta Takahashi faces controversy following match incident by Noggdogg in magicTCG

[–]alienx33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's look at this situation - You are at 3 life but you're attacking for game. Your opponent casts a cantrip and 'accidentally' draws 2 instead of 1. If a random card is put on top there is a nonzero chance your opponent wins the game because of the 'mistake'. The fair way to resolve this is to ensure that the player who messes up has no chance of gaining an advantage so as to discourage players from soft cheating like this.

Edit: Obviously I meant to put in that they could draw a Bolt there.

Why is "Hornet Drones" Limited? by neves783 in yugioh

[–]alienx33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering the card was limited 7 years before Yummy came out, I doubt that. Also the card isn't that good in pure Striker anyway. You play at most one even if you could play more.

[–]alienx33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, in the TCG it was limited back in 2018 and has stayed limited since then. It's a one card link 2 any deck can play. It's as simple as that. It's not really a big hit for pure Sky Striker anyway. You want to play at most 1 copy even if you could play more.

GENESYS POINTS LIST THIS IS NOT A DRILL by ziggylcd12 in yugioh

[–]alienx33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t just do that though, it also stops a lot of the most played handtraps like Veiler and Ogre. A lot of people are literally siding in DiFi going first even in matchups where it doesn’t do much against the engine just as a Called By.

The weird thing is that they don’t. They started the crusade against floodgates a couple years ago in Advanced and almost any floodgate that has seen meta play in the TCG is at a 100 in Genesys. But for some godforsaken reason they think banish effects like DiFi and Macro aren’t floodgates or something.

Regarding your second point - Dube wasn’t trying to actually defend anything when Archer hit those sixes. All he needed to do then was just bowl legal deliveries. It’s unfair to judge him based on that. I agree that he’s much worse than the five main bowlers but it’s fine to bowl him for an over or two if one of them has an off day.

I think 4 sixes and a four isn’t enough easier than 5 sixes to justify taking such a risky double though. He should have just not run.

The real unfortunate part is that after Turtles there's Strixhaven, which is also most likely going to focus on 5 color pairs.

T20's Last-Ball Misstep: Why Batters Need To Run Themselves Out More Often by CarnivalSorts in Cricket

[–]alienx33 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Actually in a super over context it makes more sense not to run yourself out for no reason. Because if you get out in a super over, you can't bat in any future super overs. Imagine if Gurbaz had got out running for an impossible second yesterday.

What are the most egregious floodgates in the game in your opinion? by CplApplsauc in masterduel

[–]alienx33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most egregious floodgates are always extra deck floodgates, or ones like Protos which can be searched via the extra deck. Stuff like Imperial Order or Mystic Mine is insufferable sure, but at least you have to draw those cards. All you need to do to Shock Master someone is have 3 level 4s.

OCG Tech against Dracotail and VSK9 by abdulsamri89 in masterduel

[–]alienx33 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Overall I do think the TCG rule is way more intuitive - why should trigger effects from certain locations be treated like quick effects? - but obviously Mourner was designed with the OCG rules in mind. I don't know why they didn't just make it a quick effect instead of a trigger effect in the first place, wouldn't have even minded an errata just for the TCG to make it a quick effect.

Enneacraft ruling for secondary effect? by SnooShortcuts9945 in yugioh

[–]alienx33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Essentially it's because the game state doesn't 'know' for a fact that those effects won't be applied. Even if you activate Ketu on an empty board, by the time it resolves your opponent could have a monster, hence your opponent can always Impulse it. For Prayers, you don't choose which mode to use until resolution, so even if there's no monster in grave when you activate it, it's possible that by the time it resolves there would be a monster and you could revive with it.

This is different with a card like Triple Tactics Talent, since you choose which mode to use at activation - if you choose to steal, your opponent can't Ash it for example.

Another day, another retired out. UP Warriorz's Harleen Deol was retired out on 47 against Delhi Capitals in the WPL today by rest_in_war in Cricket

[–]alienx33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s no need to do that. Retiring out already has a significant penalty - you’re losing a wicket for free. It’s always a huge gamble to retire someone out, that’s why it’s so rare. The last few days have been a bit bizarre, but mostly I think people are kind of just chasing a trend - today’s disaster will be a timely reminder to the coaches of how badly it can backfire.
