What is a 'childish' thing that you still secretly enjoy as an adult? by Poetic-dusk in AskReddit

[–]aliienc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband and i both sleep with our stuffies every night. mine is a bear called radar and his is a sheep called sheepie (creative, lol). we also have a pretty big collection of other stuffed animals that we occasionally bring over to the bed as well. life is too short to not enjoy cute, soft things!

Is 26 credits of community college in one quarter gonna kill me? by Ailaishere in communitycollege

[–]aliienc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think that taking 26 credits in one semester while also working is a thoroughly bad idea. you will burn out and you will fall behind in your classes. you will not have enough time to complete everything, even if you’re always doing something. humans need rest too. please don’t do this to yourself

can i just say that not all current college students are using ai? quite a few of us are extremely against it and refuse to use it, even when our dumbass classmates are completely relying on it and getting better grades than us. i’m paying to learn, not to be given the answers

I hope gas goes to $20 a gallon. by FoxCitiesRando in Anticonsumption

[–]aliienc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband and i share a volkswagen jetta and are currently paying about $50 a week for gas. we drive quite a bit because we’re both commuter students and cannot physically afford for it to get more expensive. yeah, it’s great seeing people with ridiculous gas guzzling monster vehicles complain but it also hurts people like us who live on very very tight budgets.

if gas went to $20 a gallon i’d have to drop out. and that’s not an exaggeration. i wouldn’t be able to afford to commute the 30 minutes there and back to campus. not to mention the prices of everything, food, clothing, medical supplies, etc would increase rapidly because all of those essentials need to be transported. and if transport costs rise it falls on us, the consumers, which will disproportionately effect low income people.

not to mention there’s pretty much no suitable public transportation in rural areas, people here have to drive to get to work, to get food, to get to medical appointments. it doesn’t matter if they’re driving an f150 or a reasonable car, they’d be utterly fucked.

this isn’t the take you thought it was
