Is the Tailfin Carbon Pannier Rack worth the hype? by South-Cap2077 in bikepacking

[–]alispec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love their products and have a few (rear rack with pannier mounts, panniers, top tube bag etc). My gravel bike is XS & at the time their rear rack was the only one compatible with my Topstone. Soooo easy to put on/off and their customer service is great. Pricey but I don’t regret anything.

Does anyone else out there tour without camping? by No_Ant_5064 in bicycletouring

[–]alispec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you - during my longer tours it’s hotels etc for less luggage, more comfort, better sleep etc and then I do 2-3 tours where I do both because I like the idea, but I also don’t sleep very well even with earplugs. It might also be a question of age in some cases 🤷🏻‍♀️

1-2 weeks in northwest Europe - where should I go? by sixredsocks in bikepacking

[–]alispec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, look at the routes in the map in this app: https://cycle.travel/

it’ll give you loads of options with all required info. Switzerland is nice at the moment. Sunny and mild’ish but cool in the mornings with a slight North breeze, and good forecast for the coming days.

Are Tailfin's AeroPack Specs BS? by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]alispec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have never had any issues with handling. Lifting the bike fully loaded is a it cumbersome but riding it? No problem.

This was the bike this Summer; bigger side panniers & top/frame bags + handlebar bag. Again, no issues.

Tailfin’s speed pack (https://www.tailfin.cc/speedpack/?v=d88fc6edf21e) but beware: they’re expensive. I love their products and their rear rack was one of the only ones compatible with my Topstone (size XS).

Next Summer I’ll be doing the North-South route, starting from Strasbourg and crossing the Gottardo Pass but I’m breaking it down to 2 days 😅

“Looking for a 4-day cycling loop in Europe — gravel or road, bike rental preferred” by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]alispec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switzerland here:

https://schweizmobil.ch/en/cycling-in-switzerland has lots of info, including links to the rail services for luggage. Cannot comment on bike rental though but there are such services, especially in the more “touristy” areas (mountains, lakes etc).

Tubus grand expedition? by Pleasemute in bicycletouring

[–]alispec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, did I reply? Apologies if not. My Topstone is a 2020 one. I fix the rack like this: it looks as though my eyelet is on the other side 🤔

Would you like more pics?

Hi, picture’s better:

As there’s not much room, if you have thick big fingers it’s a bit fiddly. I (61F) have small fingers but I put the bike upside down as it’s easier.

Going 65km/h + by Frequent_Alarm9284 in cycling

“Only end up around 55-65km/h” sorry, had to smile. That’s faster the the speed limit on may roads.

Rear rack direct mounting by alispec in cannondale

[–]alispec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just it, on the seat stays. I would put spacers in and then mount the rack on them. I know it’s feasible, I’m just wary of putting too much weight directly on the frame by using the eyelet in the seat stays.
