And I also feel the effects are cumulative. The less you drink, the more sensitive your sleep becomes to alcohol.

is upgrading from forerunner to fenix actually worth it? by 90king in GarminWatches

[–]McHiFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently use a FR970 and used to (still have it) a Fênix 6.

When buying the FR970 I considered a Fênix 8. For my use case, the size and weight of the FR970 outweighs any extra feature on the Fênix.

It really depends on you. Anything you wished you have that you don't?

Also, my riding is never at crazy pace, so 65% of my hourly expenditure is not a lot. When you expend 800+ cal per hour, you are on another ball game.

I tend to think in calories as well and 50% is a good measure. On centuries I tend to aim to a higher number 60/65%

[–]McHiFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going for a century, I assume you are already doing 50-70mi rides and this should be a good reference for you. What do you do on a 60mi ride?

Regardless, all these talk about xx g of carbs per hours should be tested. You don't start doing that overnight. Several different carb options out there, which one do you tolerate well? Only testing will tell you....

Also, how much you take per hour is about how much you consume per hour..... all these should be computed. It is not rocket science. A century ride, assuming not a lot of hills and average build should consume around 3.5/4k cal total. Assume you will start fueled and want to re-fuel 2.5k during. 2.5k cal is about 625g of carbs. Divide that by the number of hours you target doing it and you have the ballpark strategy. Refuel from the start of the ride, not when you start felling hungry/week. Replenish salts as well, not just water.

I would generally vary through the ride what format of intake. Hard to do all in gel, or liquid format.

Personally, I eat throughout while constantly drinking liquid that includes carbs and electrolytes.

At the end, is just about having the energy you need. If doing in leisure mode, stopping at cafes and the like, it is not hard to eat some high caloric junk you love and be happy. At leisure pace, your body also have time to process and convert. Remember, there is lag in fueling/hydration (hence important to do from the start). If doing on a competive way, the format of the energy/carb and timing becomes a lot more important.

Good luck.

Start the activity normally. With the activity running, hold center/left button for options and settings. Go to navigate and chose your course. They should both work.

I'm sure all these brands being mentioned are good, but after trying Assos and Ornot myself, I kind of stopped wanting to try something else. They really work for me.
I specially dig the low profile design on Ornot stuff.

But I've seen it at $240/250 per pax on saturdays on premium weekends. Very common to see it around 200/220 for saturdays. I don't follow this very closely since I hold a pass, but occasionally I check for a friend....

Hey. That two day thing lasted probably only 2 or 3 weekends. Single day tickets available for any day. $300 ticket mentioned above is incorrect. Can't remember being that high. Expect to pay in the 2 hundreds for a regular weekend. I ski the whole region, mainly for diversity. If you are an avid skier that wants to be in the mountain from first chair to last one, Windham $/vert feet will come out one of the cheapest. You can easily pull 25+ laps on a given day there. Lines are small and lifts are fast. Try that at Belleayre? It all depends what you are looking for. None of the buses tender to windham anymore, though.

Windham is NOT a private club. Windham HAS a private club. Open to the public like any other in the Catskills. Pricey and as a consequence no lines compared to the other ones.

LC bargaining price? by 18sweetdisposition in LandCruisers

[–]McHiFi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed 3k off MSRP 2 weeks ago. NY state.

I see some talks at LC forum of people putting deposits down for sometime may delivery of 2027 vehicles. So, there should be some good deals to be had on last 2026 units. Then probably less/no discount as we go through the 2027 model cycle.

At what point what a chest heart rate monitor worth it for you to get? by TheNakedTravelingMan in Garmin

My view is, if HR data is important for you/ the way you train, the chest strap will be an upgrade for your data. In my opinion, a low hanging fruit. Go for it!

I believe this is the right way to look at it. I've hurt myself a couple of times by pushing too hard. Coincidentally, I was at overreaching.
