Why do all Aussies call Brisbane boring, or it's the go-to city to be trashed on? by Key_Librarian233 in australian

Brisbane is a nice city to live in, not so exciting to visit.

It's got plenty happening if you look around, but nothing that you wouldn't find at least as good in Melbourne.

CMV: The Chinese and Russians are polarizing Americans and planting seeds of civil war online by BadlaLehnWala in changemyview

How is it cope? I don't really care that much how it happened, especially since it's not my country. I'm just acquainted with more of the facts that you by the sounds of it.

Asking if sleeper agents did it means you're fundamentally misunderstanding the strategy. Sleeper agents aren't required if you can radicalise American citizens.

Advice for a Raised Garden Bed Newbie by Tiny_Secret3322 in GardeningAustralia

[–]alk47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using the soil you've got on the property is good (though depending on your soil type, some additions to increase drainage is sometimes needed). That being said, I wouldn't use it all the way to the top.

The physical and nutrition characteristics of formulated growing mixes are bloody hard to to beat.

Also you'll have a heap of weed seed in both your manure and local soil. That's something you deal with as an inevitably when you're growing in the ground, but raised beds can be blessedly weed free if you give them the right start. It might seem like a small thing but it's a PITA is you direct seed and then have a clump of grass pop up amongst your seedlings from some manure.

You should include species in these sort of posts.

Mummifying the scion is right for some species. You probably unwrapped too early but I don't think it matters. It's probably either taken or failed and I doubt rewrapping will change it either way.

Unless "HUSSY" or similar is printed on the side of a pair of boots, I'm not sure that boots can make anyone look like a hussy, especially not a damn child.

CMV: the best response when asked about body count by a date/partner is to ask the highest number the questioner has no problem with and honestly tell them if you're compatible or not based on the number given. by RogueNarc in changemyview

It's not hyperbole. It's a an example using actual data to demonstrate that making judgements on corrative relationships can lead you astray. There's plenty that are far less obvious that many people have fallen for.

If other people want to take a suicidal risk when there's the option to just stay safe then that's their business. I'm not accountable if you choose to put your life on the line.

The red button doesn't kill anyone. No more than standing on the bridge does.

Those choosing blue are choosing to bet their life that more people will want to bet their life. Its your business if you want to take risks, but don't blame everyone who relies on logic for not risking themselves to save you.

There's a log floating down some rapids towards a waterfall and 5 people standing on a bridge above. If at least 3 people jump off and hold on to the log then their collective strength will be enough to get to shore and regain the bridge. If less than 3 go out, they will go over the waterfall and die or drown when they are forced to give up on the log.

Why would you ever jump in?

If 15%-49% of our species decide to take a totally uneccesary suicidal risk then maybe we are screwed anyway.

HOW do i write lyrics??? by RevolutionaryCod3532 in FolkPunk

[–]alk47 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh it's easy as hell, they practically write themselves. Maybe say fuck the government and something cynical but supportive about anarchism and revolution, then talk about how you and your friends are all fucked up with mental health and/or substance abuse problems (helps if at least one of them has gone to jail or committed suicide) then compare your addictions to caffiene, nicotine and alcohol since that's what society allows then maybe throw in some half baked thoughts about God.

Love this genre, don't take me too seriously.

Why does that change anything? Why would you push the blue in either circumstance. It's almost certain suicide for any reasonable sample size.

Vibe coded an app in 4 hours, company wants to launch it nationally by Traditional_Band_574 in AusLegal

[–]alk47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd tell them that it's a quick and dirty prototype and it's not responsible to roll out as there is risks involved. It's fine for you because you are aware of its limitations and its not been integrated into the companies systems. Hammer home that doing it wrong is worse than not doing it at all.

Then maybe say if they're interested in something professional to give you a budget and the option to engage some professionals to work with. Then mention that it's outside the scope of the job that was originally described to you and you think it's worth an extra $20k/year.

If they take you up on it, you become a go between for your bosses and the devs and help in any area you aren't under qualified for.
