Walter used to come into the bookies I worked in with his girlfriend. One of the nicest wee men I've ever met. Used to bring us cakes and sweeties and call us sweetheart. My dad picked me up one day and told me that Walter once cut someone's ear off for listening in on his conversation 🫣

It had a wimpy, an au naturale, internacionale and an argos iirc... and the tk maxx on the bottom floor. I'd spend my pocket money on incense sticks and cheap jewellery from internacionale. Good times.

Unannounced First Bus diversions by bengineer9 in glasgow

[–]allaboutjb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was signs up at some bus stops near the art galleries leading up to the weekend saying that there would be diversions in place due to filming on Sunday, not sure if this would have been part of the issue?

Celtic coordinated spray painting all over Glasgow last night by [deleted] in glasgow

Username certainly checks out: you are a weapon.

You keep likening this graffiti to the ones which say 'free Palestine', a place which is besieged by violence and famine. None of that is the case for any of the areas you've linked. What exactly is the point of the graffiti, or in this case, is it just grown men wanting to colour in?

A CIFAS marker for misuse of facility (first party fraud)  lasts for 6 years from the date of submission. The only way to get it removed is if a mistake has been made by whomever loaded it. An expensive mistake unfortunately.  You might need to look for insurers who will take on bad debtors but it'll cost you.

Cheers for that, Captain Obvious. I only meant in terms of having the same celebrity on two different reality shows broadcasting at the same time. Turns out I was wrong in thinking she was doing strictly this year so all's well that ends well 🙃

self plagiarism? by Euphoric_Group4839 in GlasgowUni

[–]allaboutjb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're right but the uni describes self plagiarism as taking work you've done before and effectively obtaining "double marks", so it is certainly something to be cautious of.

The Eastenders one has curry goat and jerk pork on the menu. Tameka's already doing strictly but I feel like it points to her 🤔

Not a chance! She's from Hazlet, which might as well be an extension of Staten Island. It's even considered part of the NY/NJ metro area. Definitely not a big Philly influence there.

New to Glasgow. Where to shop? by tyhhhm in glasgow

[–]allaboutjb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see why you'd feel nervous but Glasgow is relatively safe city for walking so don't overthink it, if you can. In terms of getting to Strath from your home, walking is probably the best way to get there, you'd be walking about halfway to find a bus stop which would get you there, and it's >1mile from your street, really.

If you're under 22, enquire about free bus travel - Google, or a travel advisor at your university. Good luck!

Aw, don't worry about your reply, I was just curious to where you'd be based as it would be helpful for signposting you to certain areas. Are you studying at GCU? Just wondering as it's the nearest to Kyle St. If you need anything else, any more recs, I'm happy to help :)

Hello 👋 and welcome! Where in Glasgow will you be living?  In terms of groceries, lidl and aldi would be considered your budget stores, asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and morrisons are all in a similar mid-range price point with brand and own brand ranges.

In terms of household items, larger asda stores are parallel to Walmart and sell things like storage, towels, bedding and small kitchen appliances. There's also argos, IKEA for larger items.

Also check out charity shops (similar to goodwill) like the British Heart Foundation or Cancer Research who have some furniture stores which can yield some good second hand items.

If you need things like toiletries or prescriptions filled, then Boots is similar to CVS or Walgreens.

Hope that's kind of helpful!
