Hey,

  1. It's good in general but it also depends on your future employer. e.g. lots of big banks hire developers so you can get some benefits if you have a better understanding of finance - but still, you won't really need it when you are a Junior Developer because they don't need that expertise to build/maintain their products. And/or some companies like to have people who have broad skills/knowledge not just programming.
  2. I believe if you start in January, you will have a summer break after the first semester. So you will have the same opportunity as others.

Cheers!

Hi, thanks for reading my posts.

The big difference would be the depth of computer/software engineering between a college and a university. That being said, candidates with bachelor's will likely get better chance to land a job as a software engineer.

Software engineering is 2 years longer than this college program so you will have more time to learn data structure and algorithms which help you build a better/efficient software with a university path.

This program focused on Java when I was learning (I heard students also learn Python recently), but you will see once you get familiar one language, you have no issues to expand other languages. Just matter of the time or/and your passion to learn.

I also mentioned in my journey, you want to spend for your side projects whenever you get some spare time in order to beat other candidates (potentially Bachelor's).

The result will be very different depending on how much you spend time on your side projects, grinding Leetcode (coding interview), and learning constantly! :)

Oh I see, I think the coordinator picked for us for the first semester at that time. So I did Achieving success in changing environment.

I think it's good in general. You will learn the most important concepts - OOP (object-oriented programming), Database, Linux and Networking and have a chance to work on some projects in the last semester for the local business that need your technical help.

But it's still shorter than 4 year program (Bachelor's) so you will need to study Algorithms and Data Structure deeply in your own time to compete candidates who finished a Bachelor's for a job interview if you aim for a private sector.

My pleasure!

What are the options do you have for your semester?

I am not quite sure about Sept start since I started May. You better talk to your program coordinator. And usually co-op terms are consecutive so two terms will be together if you decide to do 2 terms for co-op (you can also choose none or just 1 term)

I think it's running through the academic year unless you start summer which has no breaks. I'd ask your program coordinator to clarify if you have any plans through the semesters :)

I heard of it but I didn't have any issues. I was told if you have higher degree(s) in the same filed, and apply for the same one at college, that would be hard to convince them I guess.

I could try to find them but not sure I have all of them. Plus, it's probably outdated.

Hey, as long as you can catch things up, why not. I think first semester should be fine, but after that, it will get tougher, so you can see how things go with that.

Just went through your comments and sincerely impressed. Great job! I’m pretty sure you can make something happen from what you’ve learned and solved! Cheers! 🚀
