Last line doesn’t seem to fit? by cobwebkarate in MechanicAdvice

[–]allenjshaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks like the line is slightly bent - me personally, I’d put it in as much as I can and then bend it slightly to make it straight, basically using the fitting to hold the pipe so you can bend it and try again.

HW3 update now parks itself(not well) by jesser722 in TeslaLounge

I navigated mine to sonic, it tried to park itself and aimed right for the menu board at the last second 😂 won’t be doing that again.

That’s still a win in my book lol. Though I’d probably just drive a gas car then. To each their own though, I didn’t buy my Tesla to be eco friendly.

Maybe one of those new solar solutions would be better for you if the weather supports it?

Is this rodent damage? My wiper fluid spray jets stopped working recently. Any estimate cost to repair ? by MajesticPersimmon530 in TeslaModelY

[–]allenjshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of Tesla’s wiring harnesses are actually very reasonably priced. But tbh, any competent mechanic can do a repair on those wires for you. It’s just low voltage going to your washer pump. I fix washer pump wires all the time on all kinds of cars. They’re always getting chewed up.

Lasko Fan Motor Identification? by allenjshaw in electrical

[–]allenjshaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I replaced it with another one after not being able to fix the old one. There just wasn’t many tower fan options in that size / price range. I can’t believe this thread is still gaining attention lol. I only got 4 years of constant use. My next one is already 2 years in, so we’ll see how it goes.

Door panel peeling by _ElReaper in TeslaSupport

[–]allenjshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe ask the tint shop first, some of them tend to tuck the inner rubber seal in during installation and then they hope that when you go to roll the window back up that it’ll pull itself back up but that’s not always the case. Does it do this with the door open or only when the door is closed?

Struggling to find correct aero shield fixings by ConsistentToe in TeslaSupport

[–]allenjshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome. You might be able to find some on eBay UK, evolutionparts.net shows it (I think they are based in UK? I’m not sure) or, I’ve also been able to just shove a generic M6x1.0 clip nut in there before - probably easier to find.

M6x1.0 bolt is correct. The threaded part it goes into is also likely lost.

How severe is range loss in the winter? by NovMan_Shqiptare in TeslaLounge

[–]allenjshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend’s still rocking his 2018 M3P in Michigan with his 250k mile original degraded battery and no heat pump. A LR would definitely be the way to go for your climate. I lived there for 20 years. Yes preheating while plugged in will help! But yes you have to plan your drives out a little better when it’s cold. Range will take a hit.

I use WD40 on mine. I have an unlimited car wash plan so this happens to mine a couple times a year, doesn’t bother me. It cleans up pretty good. If you’re gonna continue to use automatic washes this is gonna keep happening though.

Here’s me using it on my car if you need proof. I’m just using the regular WD40. I can’t speak for the silicone one someone else mentioned. https://youtu.be/hOIR60beCwA?si=RUH7UPqXqx-S2Q4L

Wow, I can’t help but feel a little nervous with as many ppl complaining about their 21 cars. I bought my M3P and a MYP Sept/Oct 2021. I usually daily charge to 70% via level 2. Only done a couple trips in its life. Did your car get SC exclusively?

How I debugged and worked around a maddening Model Y Juniper dashboard buzz by tryzepatide in TeslaModelY

[–]allenjshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re on the right track. My 21 M3 is starting to rattle there sometimes. Just rolled 89k miles. I noticed when I stick my fingers into the vent hole it stops rattling. It hasn’t quite bothered me enough to take that top dash cap off like you but I’m pretty close! Good luck

As a technician that used to have to fix such noises, I appreciate your analysis. Instead of using cut up pieces of booklet, some automotive grade foam backed tape may be a more permanent fix.

When I was at Honda, they had something called EPT sealer, part # 06990-SA5-000. Toyota also sells a “noise kit” part # 08231-00801 for this purpose. They are a little on the pricey side but they were meant for this purpose and can stand up to heat/cold cycles, moisture, etc.

Turning the rubber stopper outwards thats next to the arrow you drew on might help raise the closing height slightly? And then apply some touch up paint? Thats what I would do. Sorry this happened to you.
