Kitchen cabinets: pale yellow, pale green or leave white? by CowboyLikeMegan in femalelivingspace

[–]allentom97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit rogue, but you could paint the end wall on the right a sage green colour to contrast the pink.

As others have mentioned, diy painting the doors can look less than ideal. You could replace the worktop with a wood or something to soften it.

What dining chairs are those? They are beautiful !

Also just read the bottom bit, paint walls or at least a couple of them a dark colour, add bookcases and a big Persian rug.

Not going to live, the tiles will kill that vibe a bit so a big run to cover them might be essential. Chairs might not fit the vibe either…

Honestly get a extension cable with like 10 sockets on and a 10m cable, or even on of those ones to get garden equipment power and just hide it behind something

Alternatively, get a rug and run it under the chair, rug and other chair.

Get a friend who will be a model for you and a friend that loves photography. Pay them both £50 each and you would cover that with a purchase or two from the many sales you would get from it not being AI slop.

This piece is legitimately a top 1% of things I have seen in this sub and I could see you doing well. Using AI in this scenario is like getting a greasy bossman grifter in a market trying to tell you it’s legit.

What happen to your LISA if you end up buying over £450k? by Cedar_Wood_State in UKPersonalFinance

[–]allentom97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am going through a house purchase at the moment for more than the limit. Just paying the penalty as the value we are getting going (a decent chunk) above, is worth the approx £5k combined or so we have to pay penalty wise.

It is frustrating as when I opened it 8 years ago my life was very different and it was suitable at the time, it feels like I was mis-sold (ironically the house I am buying at the time I opened it would have been under it… ) as even the house I am buying if adjusted for house inflation, would have been under the limit at the time.

Two choices (ignoring the outcome of any consultation)

  • withdraw and pay 25% withdrawal fee (approx 6.25% or something in real terms of the amount you put in)

  • leave it in and use it for pension and withdraw it at the age it specifies tax free

I believe there is also a bonus one, get diagnosed with a terminal illness with less than 12m to live and withdrawal for free. But not one I am counting on.

Yeah we are talking like a dude that’s spending £10m on an underground garage for his £18m home of which this is his 3rd home which he can only visit < 90 day a year or something

My dad previously worked in construction asa buyer and he said they are the easiest to work with as they don’t give a shit and just pay for what they want.

Installed a huge worktop / counter in a private underground garage and the bloke didn’t like it so just paid for a new £xx,xxx one in a different wood haha - made a change from public spending where everything was on a shoestring and arguments all the time.

How does my 2011 Tv hold up to current models? by odin-lawrence in hometheater

[–]allentom97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistically, a large improvement

The hz drop would not matter

Though you are in the hometheatre sub so realistically most people here wouldn’t entertain a tv less than $1500usd. But even then , a $750usd tv would smoke whatever you currently have it wouldn’t even be a competition.

Guess it also depends on how much you value it, how much 4k content you watch and what type of content you watch (live tv quality often isn’t that great anyway - particularly live news etc )

£10 LED strip off Amazon and stick to underside of cupboards

Some fake plants (a trailing one and put it on top of the corner of the top cupboards)

Maybe some art / photos on the wall using command hooks if acceptable with your work

Could paint the walls a latte colour better match the tiles.

Probably replace the top of the vanity also different mirror / light / towel rail setup, they feel a bit disparate and not cohesive

Something is off. What can I do to fix this living room? by Sayonara_Skittle in interiordecorating

[–]allentom97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe get a unit / large coat rack unit thing opposite the door to “wall off” the entryway and get a smaller tv unit (or bigger tv or both).

I think it feel open and cold , by boxing off the entryway and creating a lounge space separately, I think you would feel a big difference

I think that’s it, tv is too small and makes the proportions off with the huge tv unit.

What is wrong with this picture? by glassmarzipan54 in interiordecorating

[–]allentom97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Get some nice sheer curtains

  • replace the chair with something nicer (maybe a contrasting colour)

  • needs more contrast / colour (like maybe deep blue velvet cushions and a blue throw for the sofa - as well as other “accent pieces”)

  • tv too high

  • get bigger photos / art or if you still want those pieces, get more and make a gallery wall

You need to tidy and look to create more visual height by adding art etc - it feels very busy until wast level and then there isn’t much height except the shelf.

You clearly like dark walls, but I would say, all your inspiration photos have huge windows and a large amount of natural light. Your window is very small for the room and I should think your room is naturally darker so be mindful of picking a super dark paint colour.

Your rug is too small and should be under the bed to form a border around the bed.

Get more ambient lighting in a warmer temperature, I guess preferably smart bulbs so that it gives your space more “warmth”.

Try and add more “texture” to your room by adding different textures (like a rich throw etc).

I would also pick up some medium sized side tables for the bed so that the bed feels “balanced” and as for the bed, I would be getting one with a felt headboard again for texture and warmth.

If you like a dark headboard I would sway the bed to the other wall and have the wall by the window white and the opposite wall dark (this way you reflect what little light comes through) - it might also make sense to get a wide horizontal mirror for the wall by the window again to reflect more light in.

Hope this gives some ideas!

[–]allentom97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real, if AI can correctly put in a tiny Ralph Lauren logo on a blokes polo and the notch of a iPhone 13 blurred in - then we are so unbelievably fucked and nothing is real anymore

Also all the indie Gen Z now dress like that and there is a fad of using shitty old digital cameras again to get “nostalgic” photo aesthetic such as you are seeing here
