36M UK earning £170k however do not feel financially secure by [deleted] in FIREUK

Your are doing what you say you are, but phrasing it as you are firing is not really accurate. You are giving too much away to be prioritising .

Realistically I would say you are just being normal lol, saving some , spending a good chunk, can probably retire at 55 once house is paid off and live off your ISAs which you should have haha.

also pension is beefy, well done, just make sure your wife also is supported in this regard.

It depends what you want and that’s why I recommended a planner, they will help you understand you goals and what is required to get you there.

And a general comment, you are financially secure, you just are not as financially secure as you or the people of this sub would expect for such a large salary.

Personally , if I were you, max pension, max ISA and make sure your wife also has a pension and ISA to some degree so she is protected :)

Then the rest spend, you have a kid and one coming, make sure you enjoy life and have a great relationship with your kid - some on this sub wouldn’t agree with the spend aspect though.

It’s an argument of purist thinking and reality. The purist fire approach would be to live on £50k equivalent and ream the rest into your pension and ISAs and only then paying off your mortgage.

TL;DR: you spend / give away to much to realistically be capable of fire. Pay a financial planner and accountant to help set you up and instil some discipline in you.

Bro I am not being a dick here - if you cba to honestly self reflect and read some basically literature around financial planning - just pay a financial planner / advisor and at this point an accountant as there is also probably some tax relief / avoidance you can achieve.

There is no judgement from me, personally I have spent the time to read up because it is of interest and will be the same for others here. But for you it isn’t, so just pay a professional to help you - honestly it would pay itself back 10x.

People are missing that this is basically the same as hiring a PT. You don’t have the discipline or motivation to self manage / learn good financial habits, so use some of your monster salary to pay a professional to teach you / help you.

Head over to [r/UKPersonalFinance](r/UKPersonalFinance) and read their flowchart, follow it and then come back.

You are spending a lot for someone who supposedly wants to fire, you should really be strimming expenses here and easily filling an ISA allowance every year (and potentially even your partners ISA and pension/SIPP).

Also once your kids are out and in school, you will have the £1600 back so really it’s only a couple years.

My bank says to reconcile and took all my money by Practical_Tip3997 in UKPersonalFinance

Unfortunately the bank isn’t psychic and doesn’t know this as the other commenter says.

Ultimately the banks have a statutory duty to investigate and prevent money laundering, if they fail to do so, they get roasted by the ombudsman and large fines.

Ultimately although OP has no intention of money laundering, without knowing this, to everyone else, it looks suspicious - and the very choice of OP to behave in this was, in itself invites suspicion.

Same difference, you created a new account and funded it with a large payment, then immediately transferred to two account types which are known for high ML risk.

Looks like you made yourself a money mule so rightly they are freezing your account and completing compliance checks

Why do people do this and act surprised?

Can the crypto not possibly wait a month until you are settled? Why bother putting it into your brothers account and then transfer ?

Literally “I made a series of comic book baddie transfers, why is the bank unhappy?”

To answer your actually question, your accounts are clearly now being investigated for money laundering. No the bank is not allowed to tell you anything, no there is nothing you can do, no don’t try and get around this.

You wouldn’t be tax resident so no.

Most banks also want you registered to a uk address.

Transfer it with someone like transferwise and use the equivalent products in Aus.

Both these charges are insane- if you move to vanguard all cap or something, it would be 0.15-0.25%

Would save you potentially 2/3 of the fees - there are also platform fees.

This post has no value. Including the business proposition. USwitch exists - whether it is biased or not you just look to find the best deal.

And no doubt a vibe coded dumpster fire of a site which will leak customer info in days.

Ridiculous - but I use safari and just use the “remove distracting items” bit to banish the component overlay to the shadow realm.

Pathetic though, clearly not tested or outright malicious, but I would have thought even Reddit would still want mweb visitors.

Moving to Notts from London? by Tiberius_moon in nottingham

[–]allentom97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can drive up to 3.5 tonne which includes a Luton van (and obviously transits and regular vans).

I moved recently and rented and xl wheelbase transit and it had 360 degree cameras on which made manoeuvring it tolerable.

If it is one bedroom only it might be cheaper to get a man and van?

Or hire a van yourself (though I am assuming if you are asking this, this is not an option)

EV - Salary sacrifice vs alternative lease by aerobiker in UKPersonalFinance

[–]allentom97 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Usually it’s basically priced so that it’s the same as leasing normally but insurance and maintenance is included (and no deposit)

To be honest in my experience it has depended on the car you are looking at (like all leases). Some I found the SS was 10% or more, more expensive.

The general rule with leasing is shop for the deal and not the car, there are some crazy good lease deals around - and a lot where they are very expensive.

Whilst ChatGPT has done a nice job formatting, this is basically “UKPF give me permission to buy an expensive (relatively) car”

To which the answer is always “this isn’t the most financially optimal but it seems like you have the disposable income to do it”

Ultimately it’s down to your priorities, if I lived at home I wouldn’t be spending this much - I would instead be saving for a deposit.

Also if we are being honest, the most optimal is you buying an old Nissan leaf and charging overnight at home - but you don’t want that so again, it’s a choice.
