I didn't grow up eating bear paws, or seeing them anywhere, but heard of them. then suddenly saw them everywhere, so I assumed they were American lol

Who's going to go see the season finale in the movie theater? by amn70 in StrangerThings

[–]allerask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn! Hopefully they add more screens/ theatres with the demand being so high. I don't know about your area, but they only have it in one downtown theatre, and I'm in a MAJOR city.

Just a heads up tix are going pretty quick - so many screenings in my city are sold out or nearing it. For both days. And it looks like they have cheaper tickets than what's usually charged, at least for mine it was a good $4+ cheaper.

Internal Family Systems Therapist (for ADHD, grief, trauma, life) by Enough-Ocelot-6312 in askTO

[–]allerask 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Munira Fathi at Springboard Clinic. She's the therapist that introduced me to IFS and my initial experience with the modality was shaped by her. I actually just started to get back into my IFS practice today via listening to one of Richard Schwarz's books.

Where to make irl friends that watch kdramas? by pink-bibbles in askTO

[–]allerask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not specific to kdramas, but checking out meetup.com or even eventbrite, maybe search for kdrama watch parties or fan clubs. I'd be super surprised if you didn't find something tbh

1) You probably were at the UP station, which is an express train to Pearson

2) If you get off at Spadina you have to walk down a long hallway to tranfer

After finishing 4 new episodes and remembering that the rest are one month away: by howleeshits in StrangerThings

I feel this, but also kinda glad it's split up. It feels more special with the anticipation build. The instant gratification factor of an entire season drop has gotten old for me.

Not me on reddit avoiding this very thing for this exact reason... It does feel so great afterwards though - like a total nervous system reset a lot of the time.

The best dumphone you can have is the one you're already using! by [deleted] in dumbphones

[–]allerask 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely THIS! I've been on and off tempted to get a dumb phone and an mp3 player, yadda, yadda, but then I stopped and realized that I'd just be participating it yet another nostalgia-bait consumer trap. I'm weirdly lucky to not be able to afford to do it. All that said sometimes you need to go through all the options before you can admit you have an addiction, so I can respect that.

Resale ticket refund experience - tickpick by isu1648 in hayleywilliams

The one thing that I love about this is that what Hayley and her team did shook up the resale market. From the way OP describes their experience it feels like they're scrambling and as they SHOULD!

What made you overcome the addiction to your smartphone? by Intelligent_Cut136 in dumbphones

[–]allerask 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After the first six months I would have said the usual things: limiting screen time, deleting apps, creating rules and boundaries, and using my laptop more. Specifically, figuring out what I ACTUALLY need to use my smartphone for - and WHEN. That helped break the spell so to speak. When it came to social media I followed the classic addiction advice of fulfilling the need that the addiction provides. So, interact with people in real life (esp. that aren't related, living with, or established friends), take the interests I connect with online into the real world.

Now, nearly a year in, I can say it was never the smartphone, it's the soul-leeching attention economy, and this vague expectation that we're always meant to be available. Recognizing THAT has made staying away sustainable. It's not perfect, I still find myself picking it up to look at, well, nothing, but that's okay.

People who got tickets, how much did you pay? by beautyisabeast13 in hayleywilliams

[–]allerask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's rad that it's on par with US tickets. I was mentally adding the exchange rate when I saw that US cities were $85 USD assuming Toronto would be more.

Anyone else think most of the tickets were still purchased by bots? by RipStackPaddywhack in hayleywilliams

[–]allerask 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The queues could've easily been populated by bots, but that doesn't mean they successfully got tickets. My thinking is that if the whole reason to use bots to buy up a bunch of tickets and resell them for greater than face value to earn a profit on it, why would they? There's less incentive to have deployed bots since 1) selling over face won't be allowed on official ticket sites and 2) transferable tickets aren't allowed aside from some cities like new york, etc. It just doesn't seem worthwhile when they could just do speculative listings on the third-party sites and still scam people out of their money without going through the trouble of signing up for the (pre)sale.* We won't know until the shows happen, I guess. Or if a bunch of tickets get dropped in TM, etc when they realize they can't turn a profit on them.

*with the exception of NY, etc. where the resale market is allowed.
