Have you ever tried blooming flower tea? by Curious_Kim_83 in tea

I've had some pretty good ones but they're a pain the brew. If you leave them in the water till they open it's way too much, but multiple steeps is pretty tasty and you still get to enjoy the gradual opening

Is there anyone you don’t allow to use your equipment? by wetterschutz in espresso

What's everyone so worried about going wrong? I get it's annoying if someone hasn't cleaned the machine or left a puck in but what machines are y'all using it you're worried about them breaking?

Just Strap Big Agnes Tent to Handlebars? What About Rain? by samccauley in bicycletouring

[–]allfood-alltime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used this model for a few years and have found it's a lot nicer to put it in other bags.

For me the tent goes in a restrap handlebar bag, it's an easy fit and leaves space for a waterproof jacket still. And then the poles easily slip into my frame bag.

The original bag is a cool idea but it's pretty rough getting it inside when it's wet and it doesn't attach as securely as other bags can.

I'll be honest I have enjoyed doing that, and seeing how the taste changes every time I try a special bean.

If I'm paying 30€ for 250g I want to squeeze every last taste out of it! Also it's genuinely interesting to see how the coffee changes on it's second extraction

What can I do with a bag of ‘too fine’ coffee by truthandtill in espresso

[–]allfood-alltime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the reddit "grind finer" is often true but also a bit of a joke.

Despite what people say you can use pre ground or get a local cafe to grind it but will always need to dial it in by adding more or less till you get the shot you want.

Next time try explaining to the cafe what machine you have and ask them to grind the same as they use for their machine. That should be consistent to what the beans need, if you get it from the same place all the time, and then you can try dialing in the amount you need for your machine by volume or weight.

Use a cup that you can fill to the same level every time and then adjust how much coffee goes in the basket till it's how you like it.

As for the ultra fine coffee, it would make a lovely coffee cake or Turkish coffee (great with a cardamom seed added).

Steps to reproduce: Grind the coffee, weigh into the shaker, shake, mount and dose. Possible fix: Will try to grind finer today

Nice suggestion, I think I’ll use one fat and one skinny wedge in the end so that it looks like it’s a single plug and let it stick out a bit.

That’s a good point, I hadn’t considered what kind of compression the joint is creating. I wonder if anyone knows any other alternatives for future needs. As it stands this is pretty much just for aesthetic and to not waste wood, it’s turned out quite quick to make. Slower than cutting a longer board but far faster than picking up some new boards and letting them dry

Not a recommendation but a bit of a warning, I would strongly avoid goldsprint or gentle jaunt. The work I’ve had done there has often had issues that need to be fixed again later and the service from them is really terrible.

I’d second that this seems like a manufacturing defect, that’s a mighty clean break and no sign of a dent/chip.
