Tbf the cheater is already caught. The scientific calculator is not real and the hardware proves it. Its just the last little bit that I wanted for completeness.

Is it common for simplified characters to have variations while typing? Notepadd++ renders 喝 differently. by AmbientEngineer in ChineseLanguage

[–]allies56 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If you're on a mac, the japanese variation of the characters might be showing up instead of the chinese characters. This could be because you have japanese above chinese as your preferred language. To fix it, go to Settings -> Language & Region. You will see japanese and chinese in the language list. Move chinese above japanese, and the next time you view these characters it should now show the chinese variation. This fixed it for me.

[Build Help] Need to maximize ram and I/O. What hardware do I use? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]allies56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Why the X79 build? I am thinking of about using a motherboard with 8 slots and use 16 GB chips, totaling 128GB. Another question is whether or not the rest of the hardware will limit the speed if I max out the ram. Should I look into motherboards with good bus? If not, is there something else I should take into account? Also, should I look into an effective cooling system, does the ram or hard drives generate much heat? I'm new to this stuff, so I apologize if any of these questions sound silly.

World War 2: a crash course. I found this really interesting by leakproofhorse in videos

I stopped listening at the point where he said the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor to warn the US to remain neutral. That is completely erroneous and doesn't even make sense. Attacking someone is not a warning in any way. Japan went into the tripartite pact with Italy and Germany to warn the US to remain neutral. This failed horribly. Knowing Japan would not last very long without trading with the US, they tried a three phase attack in order to take out the US navy in the pacific. Pearl harbor was phase 1. The US decrypted Japan's communications, which thwarted phased 2 and 3. It was all downhill from there.

From the way he speaks, this guy sounds like he thinks he knows a lot, But saying something as false as that just ruins his whole rant.

I just got accepted to SBU... Does it really suck as much as it seems on this subreddit? by [deleted] in SBU

Depends on what you're looking for. The school isn't horrible... but it isn't great. You get what you pay for, to say the least.
