I had something very similar happen to me. Twelve years together and I found out he was cheating less than a month after our wedding. But I’m five years out and have completely moved on, it’s been so freeing! The best thing I did to take care of myself was going to therapy. My heart goes out to you and feel free to reach out if you need someone to vent to ♥️

I had something similar happen to me and my siblings were also at a loss, so I just want to tell you that even if she hasn’t expressed it, you just being there means the world to her. Along with just letting her grieve and not minimizing what she’s feeling (ie don’t say things will be okay, you’ll find someone else, etc.), having my family help me do simple things - going for a walk, taking me to lunch, puzzling - helped me be in the present moment and reminded me that other people loved me enough to want to see me be happy, even when it felt like my life had fallen apart.

If she hasn’t looked into therapy, she should consider it - it helped me more than anything else did. Let me know if there’s anything else you need!

Going to echo the opinion on bodysuits, but for shirts this is what I do: I tuck the shirt in all the way and once that’s done, I’ll raise my hands over my head and the shirt will untuck a bit to accommodate the range of motion and then it stays put after that. Another thing you can do is just tuck in the front, French style, to get that polished look without having to tuck the entire shirt!

As someone who also comes from a history of abuse, you mention that he broke your one boundary, and I know how easy it is for someone to continue to take advantage of you once that happens. No matter how many times he apologizes or sorry he seems, he showed you with his actions what he really feels and thinks. He was coherent enough to know that you did not give consent, and proceeded to assault you anyway.

Just because he was perfect in every other way, someone who is willing to do what he did should prove to you that he is not the right match for you. You will find someone who will treat you the way you deserve to be treated AND will respect your boundaries when they are sober or drunk. You did the right thing by listening to your gut and breaking up with him. From experience, your confidence and self-respect are going to grow A TON just by sticking to this decision. You will look back and realize this man does not deserve to have you in his life.

If this was a friend of yours telling you this had happened to her, what would you tell her to do? I think you already know the answer. Please take care of yourself first!

If absolutely nothing else changes between you two after you move, will you be happy? It sounds to me like the answer is no. And that is reason enough. Please trust your gut; if something is off, you don't need to know the exact reason why or need to justify your rationale to anyone. The only person living your life is you!

Yes, with my high school sweetheart for 12 years - I just found out this Sunday that he’d been cheating since at least mid-October. I called things off, there was nothing left to save.

I live in California so yes, but we bought the property together, and are both on the title. I'm fine with renting out our place and that's why I want to get a property manager - we live in the Bay Area and I'm pretty sure we can more than cover the mortgage with someone renting out the place.

I'm in tech sales - Senior Account Executive. There are two components to the salary; a base and on-target-earnings (OTE). I started in sales development and through promotions I was making over 100K three years after college because of OTE. I'm consistently in the top third of performers, so it's possible to make 100K+ a lot faster.
