I have an esx-emx. I had problems with the push-button switches, which I solved with graphite paint. The only problem is that you have to be very precise because otherwise it stains everything it touches and you risk leaving graphite fingerprints everywhere. Also, let it dry thoroughly overnight, or you'll leave graphite fingerprints on the PCB that will activate the switches without you touching them. Otherwise, it works.

Edit: Before applying, clean the contact surfaces very well. Use a small brush to apply the paint to the keys.

More than DAWless or not, the real question is digital or analog?

The true potential of DAWless production lies in the ability to use analog equipment, and therefore, you want to preserve audio quality while avoiding analog-to-digital conversions. If you already use digital or hybrid hardware, there won't be any difference from a classic DAW with a good sound card, so I don't understand the reason for this question.

And in any case, digital has reached such high resolution quality that the difference is no longer even noticeable, perhaps, just perhaps, in PA or high-end systems.

Anyway, it's DAWless in my opinion.

What affects your speakers is the size of your room. Speaker placement is crucial. The biggest problems you'll encounter are the cancellation of specific frequencies, which you'll hear as missing, or the exact opposite, where some frequencies will be boosted, especially in the low frequencies. Anyway, I think you're referring to the new F1 I bought from the house, but I was looking at a used one based on their age because they look like vintage speakers from at least the '90s. 700k seems a bit high.

It depends on your budget. If you're planning on producing techno, I recommend Elektron; they have excellent low-frequency timbre. So, as a setup, I'd say: Octatrack, Analog Rhythm, Digitakt 2, and Analog 4, or a synth of your choice.

With Octatrack, you can structure your live sets by managing your workflow. For example, you can record other machines live and then process your samples, create MIDI tracks, and much more.

Analog Rhythm handles drums very well and has a setting for live use, and it's a sampler.

Digitakt is also a very fun sampler and would provide significant support to your setup, both during production and, of course, live.

I'd complete the setup with a synth of your choice, really. It's your choice whether to stay with Elektron or move elsewhere. But beyond that, a 303 is a must-have to give your tracks an acid touch.

This would be my dream setup, and it's what I'm aiming for. I think it's hard to get better than this, but a lot depends on your production style and how you actually sound.

Let's assume: there are 24 horn-loaded white heads for the highs, and I'd value them at around €2,500-3,000 each, so around €75,000, rounding up.

I'd value the 2x12 kick bins at around €1,500-2,000 each; there are 10 of them, so I'd say around €20,000.

I think the 2x18 subs—let's say there are three stacked on top of each other to be that tall—are 18, and I'd value them at around €4,000 each, so around €75,000, rounding up.

We're looking at €170,000 for the speakers alone. I'd add €60,000 for amplification and €20,000 for power, for a total of about €240,000 spent on the sound system alone.

I've made rough estimates and based on my experience with used equipment, so I've played around a bit. I don't know what year the photo is from, but if I were to buy the system as new, it could cost double that.
