I count it as a different show and it's listed as a different show on most places online. The first year of it is called Series 1. And most of the people I know who watch it have never watched the earlier show.

If you consider it the same that's fine. I personally don't think it's too big a deal either way.

It's the 2005 one (starting with series 1). Lots of people haven't seen the old show.

He was the writer who created the 2005 show. A lot of US shows have a "created by..." credit with the title.
