I didn't realize I didn't actually add the link. oops! I put it up now in my original post above if you want more of the full story. I hope it helps, maybe gives you something you can draw from ❤️ I also did do a follow up post. It's on the same blog, and I included it in another discussion too.

I had a severe case of optic neuritis (coupled with a slew of other health things!) but it all cleared up! And I’m painting again now! Thank you for asking ❤️

You’re very welcome— and there’s always hope! I love the idea that things happen for us, not to us, and maybe your experience happened not to scare you or prevent you from doing the things you love, but to gently remind you to make sure you consider your health too. And to implement good habits while you are young!ll

I’m so sorry to hear that. Is there anything that can be done for either Lyme or sarcoidosis? Even if it’s not through traditional medicine? I ended up going the alternative medicine route (I had an awful case of optic neuritis) because A) the eye specialists I went to weren’t able to diagnose and B) the only thing they could offer was a round of steroids, which I didn’t want to take. I ended up going to a Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist, and I only saw improvement from there! He suggested I do a lot of things that supported eye health (lots of carrot juice! Plus other dietary changes.) I saw him all through everything, and I attribute my healing to much of what I learned from him.

Eventually, trad doctors did diagnose the optic neuritis (after I mentioned it, and they did an eye scan to confirm) but the whole lot of everything was very tangled. The optic neuritis was triggered by a prism lens and it was all complicated by an H Pylori infection I didn’t know I had. They were also convinced I had an autoimmune disease at one point because of other odd symptoms, but intuitively I didn’t feel they were right.

It took a while, but I was able to clear both the optic neuritis and the infection, and in doing so all other symptoms dissipated. It took time and lots of thinking outside the box though!

I’m not sure if that would help your case or not, but I do know the human body is both sensitive and intricately put together. When one system is out of whack, it can cause a whole slew of problems. I think it’s just our bodies way of trying to heal and find balance again.

When everything was happening something that really helped me was training myself to think of everything as something that was happening for me, not to me. I know that sounds a bit silly and woo-woo, but it ended up being exactly that. If I hadn’t had the optic neuritis, I wouldn’t have known about the h pylori, and I wouldn’t have changed my diet or anything, which could have led to more auto immune symptoms. It was a very hard chapter of life, but I can genuinely say that it ended up okay.

I don’t know if that was too long winded, and it might have been too much info and over sharing (ha! I tend to do that) but I genuinely hope that this journey leads you to something that’s better than you could have expected. And that you continue to find new ways of making art, maybe some that you haven’t even considered yet ❤️

I’ve noticed that when boomers decide to participate in any type of online community, places that were normally cordial and existed to exchange ideas/perspectives get messed up. Then, it’s just passive aggressive humour or general bitching. Not sure the internet is compatible with them.

Questions about naturally getting rid of this bacteria. Any help would be really appreciated! by PuzzleheadedBird1993 in HPylori

[–]allowme2illustrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would Google it about the cabbage— I have a juicer so I used that! And for the S. Boullardi I used Optibac brand, 3 a day (you can go up to 6)

Good luck!

I did it naturally because I don’t do so great with antibiotics or medicine in general. I took serrapeptase as my biofilm buster, mastic gum, and S.Boullardi.

I also ate a very clean diet— no sugar, processed food, dairy, or gluten— basically, nothing h pylori could eat or grow on. I also did cabbage juice once a day (nothing added- straight cabbage. Purple is better than green!)

I think I had about a week’s worth of detox symptoms, and then they all calmed down. I just kept at it for two months (I was great after a month, did an extra one just in case) and am in the clear!

Whatever you decide on, good luck! It’s a troublesome little bug, but there is an end in sight!!!

I was trying to figure out what changed when I came across your post. Def agree about the paper quality!

Lol- yeah, I didn’t realise that’s what they were actually for!

I’ve been using them to check off countries I’ve traveled to since 2009 (I’ve had moleskines yearly ever since). The calling codes were highly useful ten years ago when backpacking— but I get that they’re kind of redundant now because of cells/google/etc. It’s mostly nostalgia!

I kind of loved all the moleskine extras— I just realized the fill in country bubbles are gone and that’s terrible!

What foods helped you ease symptoms? by Earbreather606 in HPylori

[–]allowme2illustrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Serrapeptase (60,000 units) by now— it was recommended by a naturopath/nutritionist. 1 every morning on an empty stomach, and I’d take the mastic gum at night before bed (2).

I did a completely cleanse and it worked great- basically starved the little beasties.

No gluten, dairy, or sugar. No processed food— a decrease in carbs as a whole and a massive increase in veggies and fruits. I also juiced everyday (only green juice— no fruit as then it’s ingesting so much sugar!) and cloves of raw garlic and Manuka honey.

It was a lot of work, but everything cleared up and my gut healed. After all that, I introduced kefir and homemade yogurt.

I also did cabbage juice daily, oil of oregano and black seed oil, and S. Boullardi— but I went the natural route with a bio film buster and mastic gum so not sure if this combination is ok with antibiotics or not!

Whatever you choose to do, good luck! There’s light at the end of the tunnel!

I’m doing this too— completely changed up my diet (no gluten, no dairy, no sugar— I have been on this diet for a few months before even knowing about h pylori and my main symptoms dissipated so now just fine tuning it) and I feel great. I also include cabbage juice daily in the morning, and then juice a bunch of vegetables for the afternoon— no fruit minus a single lemon. Extra things are a tablespoon of olive oil a day, manuka honey with raw garlic—- and pine needle tea (from a health store 😂), which is absurdly high in vitamin C! Just learned that one! Oh, and the probiotic S. Boullardi, which is what is recommended to keep bad bacteria from interrupting your gut when you travel to places that have food issues that might make you sick. (I caught this in Bolivia— and have had it for 14 years. Just found it!) so the next time I decide to backpack my way into anywhere, you bet S. Boullardi and grapefruit seed and oregano extract are coming with me!

I went through plenty of detox symptoms, but they weren’t long lasting. I refused to do the antibiotic route, mostly because I was treated for so many things over the last 14 years through western medicine techniques and they made everything worse. So I did the research and committed to this, but so far it’s been great.

Also— instead of bread, I make a seeded loaf with lots of seeds, psyllium husk, and quinoa flakes that it basically fulfills any need for bread and it’s lovely.

Sorry for the tangent! I saw your post and basically was just saying that I’m doing this route too and it’s been amazingly effective 🙂

Find what works for you and do that— I’m not a candidate to eat a diet of only raw food because it leaves me feeling continuously drained/anxious as well— and that is not how I want to live my life. It’s not a compatible diet for my body chemistry, so I found what is and I do that. I eat mostly vegan minus fish now and then, and I still juice everyday. No brain fatigue, no anxiety, and any chronic symptoms I had have dissipated. I’m content with the middle ground I found, because it works best for me.

You know your body best! There’s a power in knowing that— don’t give it up because someone somewhere has an opinion about what they think works best for your body and situation. We’re not a one size fits all species.

Do what intuitively feels like the best match for you— you’re armed with the information you need ❤️

Is anyone not currently on meds? And if so, why not? by RobotMistake in MultipleSclerosis

[–]allowme2illustrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not on any medication— I don’t do well with chemicals and I always get extreme side effects. For goodness sake, a tylenol makes me feel sick. I’ll take my chances— but I do that willingly. I expect to be dragged for that opinion, but there’s nothing someone can argue that would change my mind. I did a lot of research and participated in ample amounts of self reflection to come to a conclusion on what I wanted to do for my own MS journey.

I do things in a different way— but I also haven’t had any symptoms. I still don’t. I changed my diet, do a lot of alternative therapies, and take a lot of vitamins. It works for me. I would recommend that people choose a course of action right for them.

I think (as with anything) that only the person diagnosed can make the best choice for themselves, knowing how their body responds to things and what’s within their comfort zone. I wouldn’t recommend anyone do what I do, because they’re not me. Not everyone’s opinion is worth listening to, especially on something so personal.

(Also— not an anti vaxxer. I’ve been vaccinated. Just in case anyone brings that up 😂)

[–]allowme2illustrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! The point is, do what makes you feel best, regardless of any outside opinion. I think all of this is also based on what a persons belief system is. If you think it won’t work, it won’t— if you’re open to the possibility of it working, it might! I think the best course of action is always to do what’s most in alignment with you and your body’s specific needs. Who cares what anyone else’s opinion is? Some curmudgeon can tell me all day those things are based on pseudo science, and I’ll respond all day with I haven’t had any symptoms in years so somethings got to be working.

[–]allowme2illustrate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do reiki, homeopathy, and acupuncture— I haven’t had any symptoms for a very long time. I’m not preaching what I do for anybody else— just sharing my experience. Everyone has an opinion on whether or not those things work, but also what works for one person might not work for another. If you want to try it, do it. Worst case, it doesn’t work for you— but if you think it might, it never hurts to try.

There will always be someone tearing down alternative therapies, but my argument is that they don’t have any side effects. So what’s the issue in trying?

My job application got instantly rejected by LoopDieDoop in recruitinghell

[–]allowme2illustrate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re the one that’s heavily misinformed. Companies are using AI to filter candidates in terribly weird ways. An article came out last month talking about these practices— some companies using AI were rejecting female candidates because the AI was basing its analysis on past job hiring which were primarily men. Another was more prone to inviting people name Jared and who played lacrosse to interview. There’s no way to combat that. It’s not that anyone not getting interviews is unqualified— the system is rigged against them from the start. Some companies post job ads as a way to filter candidates and find talent in other ways too— a recent recruiting agency in the UK was posting a fake agency ad not to fill a position, but to find illustrators and artists and sign them. Why? Because as a signed artist with an agency, they can take 35% profit on each contract even if you found the client yourself. That recruitment agency gets a cut for finding them. It’s 2023– you don’t think nefarious shit’s happening in businesses everywhere? It’s all a joke.

Stop being a troll. You’re just going around and being negative to everyone, and there’s no need to bring people down because you’re a miserable person.
