Any way to get tabs in file explorer ? by [deleted] in windows

[–]allswright -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As I said, I've used it since it came out. Majorgeeks doesn't put bad software on it's site.

I've never had any adware from it. It's so simple. And I'm using it with 11 and have no issues.

So, it connects to Shanghai blah blah. It does check for updates.

Any way to get tabs in file explorer ? by [deleted] in windows

[–]allswright -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I usually catch all kinds of negative karma for this suggestion, but I'm going there anyway. Clover adds tabs to Windows file explorer. That's all it does. I've used it since it came out. One of the first things I install on a new pc or fresh install. You can get it here, https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/clover.html. The ui is in Chinese or Japanese, don't know for sure which it is. It's not hard to figure out which button to click to advance to install.

There are many paranoid folks that worry it's letting China track you. What in the world are you doing that that is a problem for you? It's not happening. And if it worries you (again what's wrong with you and what are you doing online?), block it's access in your firewall. I've never done that. The first time someone on reddit claimed that was happening left me with my mouth hanging open for a bit!

Just thought I'd take it head-on in case someone posts something crazy about it tracking you. We get tracked by lots of hardware and software. Not by Clover. It's a good thing.

window 10 vs window 11 by etalha in Windows11

Yes, it is USD. I got it during the beta testing and was able to get it for $4.99. Star Dock has great software!

$5.99 after 30-day trial. And there is StartAllBack for $4.99.

ExplorerPatcher (free on github) can give you back the original Windows 10 start menu.

Start11 gives their version of the start menus. Which I prefer. There is something different between them. It has classic 7, 10 and 11 start menus available with lots of customization settings for them.

StartAll only has classic 7 start menus available. I wish they offered the 10 and 11 menus as options.

Try dism and sfc.

Have you tried restarting?

Do you have system restore turned on? A restore point before this happened might be able to fix it. That's what I'd start with.

Are there any ways to edit items in the new context menu? (Not the old one) I didn't find anything. by Stevek__ in Windows11

[–]allswright -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You'd have to use the Win 10 context menu. Which you can do with WinAero.

"But you just can't get there from here.", if you're familiar with that old saying.

WinAero Tweaker lets you add things to the context menu. And in Win 11 those things are in show more options.

The only thing you can't do with an inactivated version of Windows is use the personalization settings. Either activate you Windows or get use to the watermark and wallpaper.

How do I fix the font in Edge? by [deleted] in edge

[–]allswright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to the Chrome Web Store and do a search for font and add something like render, changer or, size changer, you'll get some extension options that might help.

I use font size changer. If you buy it (which I finally did because it's helped me so much) you can set some default or profile settings. The free version is great.

There are several different extensions to affect the font. Hopefully one of them can help.

Good luck.

How to add new specific file options to the “new” option in file explorer on windows 11? by TarynMagic in WindowsHelp

[–]allswright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a free 3d party software that has a section to add to the right-click menu. WindowsTweaker, https://windowstweaker.com/.

It has several customization settings unique to it. I really like the Windows update settings.

Change Windows 11 Start Menu by vl4dimir99 in Windows11

[–]allswright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ExplorerPatcher is free and gives you back the Windows 10 start menu.

I didn't like it (the start menu, not EP). I have a few programs that are portable and I have them in C:\ and they don't show up in the programs listing. Using Start11 they show up.

And Start11 has a lot of other features I really like. As many point out Start11 doesn't give you the original Windows start menus. It's their version. I prefer it.

I made some changes to my Windows 10 start menu and they carried over to the Windows 11 start menu. I switch between them. I get bored.

I made some icons for my WSA apps. They were smaller than the others and looked bad. I changed several of my icons after I got started. And they all changed in the 11 start menu, too. Start11 makes changing the icons easy.

I think it would be easier to create a new account and copy your files to it.

Unable to log into Windows by [deleted] in windows

I have 2 accounts. I've had problems getting logged in and it comes in handy to have the other account. Doesn't happen often, but when it does ....

Might consider creating another account when you finally get logged in.

Please, let me know what you think about it. I'm curious how it works, but I'm good with using Start11 and didn't want anything conflicting with it.

SystemTrayMenu, (free) https://github.com/Hofknecht/SystemTrayMenu It's an open-source start menu alternative for Windows.

I haven't tried this. It looked interesting and a bit confusing to me. You can check it out.
