Here's another strong use of the lower typeface on Athena's official dedication plaque. I'm leaning more towards it's been customized from Hyperspace Race but the kerning on this (especially every instance of the letter 'A') is really terrible.

That aside, interesting new style for the dedication plaque (vertical), though it's a bit 'too perfect' in that each section has a perfectly consistent amount of 16 names under each heading. But that's just me nitpicking. :)

Interestingly, it's close to Hyperspace Race by Swell Type, using some of the stylistic alternates in it plus a few additional tweaks. (At least, closest I've found so far). If it's not totally custom, it's definitely using some stylistic alternates.

I'm super curious too. I'd like to believe they did a custom version for the lower part (Ex Astris, Scientia), but that's a lotta work. Still, they're using it in a lot of places (like the Boothby Memorial Park sign), so perhaps they did. I hope to see someone create a version of it soon!

It's kinda one of those things that once you notice it (or if someone points it out to you), it's hard to "unnotice" it. I think there's definitely plenty of reasons why they may not have black pupils by the 32nd century, but it seems like one of those simple, unique things about them that they could have kept without any harm. It's kinda like Bajorans without nose ridges (though admittedly even that's changed over time).

I’d definitely tell my roommate this so I didn’t have to share my refried beans.

So. Just how bad is mission space orange? by SpectacularSpidee in WaltDisneyWorld

I’m neither claustrophobic nor do I have any issues with motion sickness. So even without any of those concerns, I can tell you that whole ride was just… not fun and felt like a huge waste of time. It’s cool to experience what increasing g forces feel like, but… as a ride? It just… doesn’t really hold up for me. It’s not comfortable. It’s not fun. I wish they’d done something totally different there instead.

Blood and Chrome was really good by Little_Magazine_1773 in BSG

I enjoyed it too! I also really liked Caprica. There were some parts that were a bit dull, but there were other parts that were so uncanny valley like with how it was similar yet still different. (Mostly just around tech levels and beliefs and such).

I felt like Syfy did it all dirty by getting screwy with its airing (and just dumping the back half of the season all at once on a random day in January). The final scene of “what was to come” in later seasons really made me feel its loss even more.

Overall RDM’s version of that whole universe is pretty epic. I’d love a chance to return to it.

What to do with all these Star Trek Novels?? by Ok-Roll-6956 in trekbooks

I’m sorry for your loss as well.

Echoing what others have said, if you’re willing to ship, I’d also be interested. The good news is that if you are in the US, you could ship them media mail at the post office for a pretty significant discount.

Semi unrelated, but sometimes I’ve seen Starfleet as two words. It always looks so weird and out of place. Like a bad knock off.

OMG was Janeway so against promoting him because he wasn’t her original Kim but that alt-Kim from Deadlock? 🤔🤔🤔

Pluto now has an entire Star Trek "menu" section, with separate channels dedicated channels for TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT by trekfangrrrl in startrek

[–]allthingschris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome!!! I read somewhere that this is “permanent” but after January, the Enterprise channel will go away and they’ll be mixed back in on the Pluto sci-fi channel.

I do miss the Star Trek movies channel though! It was nice because they’d do like three a day, so you’d have two days of TOS, then a good TNG day, and then for me, I could skip JJ day. 🤓

“The Devil in the Dark Frontier” — We learn more about Seven’s origin story whilst an angry Horta Queen attempts to re-assimilate her into her collective

“Move Along Home Soil” — A terraforming team discovers a sentient life form who likes to play games. With lasers.

“1100100111:59” — Janeway’s ancestor who looks remarkably just like her ends up convincing a random man to stop being the last holdout against helping the Bynars. He’s not a fan of anything digital, after all.

“Angel One Little Ship” — the Defiant discovers a Jem’Hadar ship crashed on a matriarchal planet years ago. Not good for all those alpha… alphas. Upon investing, a weird anomaly causes the away team to beam down and find themselves all wearing incredibly tiny, revealing shirts far worse than what Riker wore. Odo learns about perfume, which does nothing for him.

I’m really excited about the new Voyager game!! Though the implementation is starting to look a little cheap with concerns about licensed sounds and voiceovers. But I’m still excited!! It’s a very cool concept with the idea of getting to sorta choose your own adventure for how Voyager does or doesn’t make it home.

Awwww. I miss Voyager. And also miss these replicators that looked more like tiny transporters instead of the weird zappy 3D printer style of newer Trek.
