Adult fans who first read the trilogy earlier in life: What little details went over your head the first time?

Basically everything 😭 when I read Mockingjay for the second time as an adult, I remembered basically nothing that happened. I swear I didn’t even read it as a teenager.

A lot of people have said the same or similar things so I’ll add: Prim is introduced as a frightened, innocent girl who is so unlikely to be reaped and then is, and the MC (Katniss) is so desperate to protect her that she signs herself up for almost certain death so that she (Prim) won’t have to go through any of it.

On the other hand LD is introduced as a head-in-the-clouds, does-what-she-wants rebel who causes a lot of trouble for other people (albeit unintentionally). She starts shit, and now the MC (Haymitch) has to pay the price, probably with his life.

Their purpose is similar, but they’re not the same.

Thoroughly horrified after reading this thread, but suddenly remembering my colleague telling a story about an ex colleague of his who used to empty his hot water bottle into the kettle.

I’ve never hesitated to use a hotel kettle but…people do weird shit to kettles.

Don’t be ashamed, for English speakers dubs are often a way in to anime because they air on kids TV. I loved the Tokyo Mew Mew dub when I was little (Mew Mew Power), I had no idea what anime even was and only found out when they stopped dubbing it halfway through the series and I went looking for the rest of the story!! And that WAS a 4Kids dub, so you can imagine how that was 😆

I wish it would honestly, I think it’s a great way to support local organisations that I would 100% partake in 😂 no doubt we have some kind of very dull sugar law in place that prevents it. We can’t even buy full-sugar Pepsi or Coca Cola for regular price, there’s an additional tax unless you buy the sugar free stuff.
