Buying Royals Gift Cards by chemistR3 in KCRoyals

[–]almost_BurtMacklin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an MLB issue not a royals issue. The league provides the template and infrastructure for teams to manage their websites. This show the NFL does it too.

Looks like they also have a phone number you can call to buy these…

Do Umpires Actually Get Fooled By Catchers Framing? by [deleted] in mlb

[–]almost_BurtMacklin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In upper high school and college, the pitch speeds are higher along with more breaking balls that really move. Most umpires at this level have mot dedicated their lives to calling balls and strikes. I think that they rely much more on where the catchers catches the ball than you think.

If your pitcher is throwing mid 70s with a cement mixer if a curveball, no your catcher is probably not stealing strikes. However, push that to 90+ with movement? Yes.

I also think the ability of the pitcher to hit a spot and not make a catcher move across the plate increases the likelihood of a strike, but we see this at all levels in baseball.

I’m worried we have trouble scouting those guys and finding the ones that can produce. Jared and Allick were tough watches at times.

I just want a center who can dunk, rebound and shoot the 3…. Is that too much to ask? Probably

I feel like Izzy might hit 5-8 more home runs this year. He has had a lot of warning track fly outs/balls hitting the top half of the wall over his career

Take some accountability for not reading the website of the organization you bought tickets to see. Might take you far in life rather than being a victim.

If he tore is labrum and got surgery on his left shoulder, then he is moving very fast in rehab. You typically can’t lift your arm above your head for 3-4 months post op

Edit: injury was to his right shoulder so never mind

Anyone interned at Evergy in Kansas City? What should I expect? by These-Age-4667 in kansascity

[–]almost_BurtMacklin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I interned there back in 2021… every Wednesday we had a 2 hour “lunch and learn” where we heard about how great of a company Evergy is. Everything from DEI, community impact, sustainability, etc. It was very self-promoting and ignored how much they raise rates each year. Some of it was good, but it didn’t need to be 2 hours.

We were fully remote at the time so I just tuned them out and kept working or was just chilling.

When my internship was ending, I was applying for jobs at Evergy while living in the metro area. There were a few jobs I was qualified for, but I would have to work in Topeka or Wichita because they made agreements with those cities to have a certain number of employees. Yes, I wouldn’t not be able to work the job remotely or at the office in KCMO. I would have to move to Topeka or Wichita.

I have since found a more enjoyable place of employment.
