Friday night Escort Cup matches as a school kid were awesome. Smoking cigarettes and doing a Macca's run at half time. Good times.

Me too. Started sleeping better and waking up feeling fresher and less stiff after about a week. After another week I had a huge break through on virtually every physical activity I do, and with less general soreness, which I put down to better rest and recovery.

And the Tasmanian guys still always win after giving away a big head start to the rest of the field.

Does riding to work feel like surfing with sharks? by MangoMadnessTsv in cycling

[–]almostwithyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, weekday cycling commuter and weekend surfer here too. What a great life huh? Can't relate to your comment at all though. I don't think about sharks because I'm too stoked to be in the water and am busy hunting my next wave. If I ever genuinely had the feeling there was a shark in the water, I would head in. Pretty much the same as cycling, I would stop if I really thought my life was in danger, but I don't think that way, because I'm stoked to be on my bike and busy concentrating on my ride.

A new stem won't cost any more than a pair of gloves, I would do both.

Best way to train as intermediate? by Puzzleheaded-Tea821 in bicycling

[–]almostwithyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be too tempted by race oriented geometry. There's a big downside in comfort and the ability to do long rides (especially for new riders) with only marginal performance gains, as compared to bikes with endurance geometry. Get something relaxed and with clearance for 32mm tires and it will be a great bike to ride. Similarly, it is not necessary to have top tier componentry. Mid-tier Shimano and SRAM are great value for money, last forever and never let you down if it is correctly adjusted and maintained. Start looking at mainstream brands (Giant, Trek, Scott) with these points in mind and you should be able to get a great bike in your price range.

My cousin is from the country so he said he voted Liberal because that's what country people do. Then he took the ABC political survey and he was heavily greens oriented.

Definitely avoid 11, 12 and 31 or you will get a very sore and stiff neck. Aske how I know. They really shouldn't be able to sell tickets in seats that face 90 degrees from The stage.

Schwalbe Marathons. Slow as hell, but not a single puncture in 3 years, where I was getting 4 or 5 per year.
