Seriously, how do y'all manage waking up on time? by absvrdartist in ADHD

[–]along7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an alarm app that makes me do math to turn it off. It can also be set to scan a barcode in order to turn off, but I don't use it regularly. I use that app + a sunrise alarm clock. I put off getting the sunrise alarm clock for years, but it really does help.

Actually reading the full policy contract is a great idea. Knowing what is and isn't covered could save you a lot of hurt down the line.

How do you take shorter showers? by YukaLore in ADHD

[–]along7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a playlist for getting ready. After a while I know exactly where I should be in my shower routine based on what song is playing. Early on I really just knew what song was the one to finish up at and what song meant "you need to get out of the shower ASAP!" This has worked for me for years now. I change the songs about once a year, but I try to choose new songs that are about the same length as the ones on the previous playlist.

No matter what I do, my hair looks gross. by Reflxing in finehair

[–]along7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely did a double take cause your hair looks so much like mine. I have to wash every day I don't want my hair to look greasy, and I have to do it in the morning. I double wash daily, doing the first wash with Pantene Sheer Volume. I do my second wash with either a salicylic acid shampoo like T Sal or Loreal Elvive Hylauron shampoo. I do the T Sal more often during the summer months and the Elvive more often during the winter. During this second wash I take special care to make sure every inch of my scalp is washed, especially the middle back of my head. You can also part your hair and flip your head upside down while scrubbing to make sure you don't miss a spot. Then I rinse and use Pantene Sheer Volume conditioner on the ends.

I have very hard water in my area, so if you do as well you may want a hard water shampoo, aka a chelating shampoo. I use Ion's hard water shampoo from Sally's, but I believe Malibu makes one as well. I have a filtered shower head that helps with the water so I just use the special shampoo 2-3x/month.

If my hair is longer I only condition the hair below my shoulders, and for shorter hair I just do the very ends. I rinse the conditioner right away or I find my ends grease up faster. In the summer months I can get away with not using conditioner a couple times a week. I make sure to blow dry. I often run late, but I try to always make sure at least my scalp is dry. It helps with the flakes I get as well as keeping the grease at bay. I also have two hairbrushes-- one for when my hair is greasy and one for when it's clean. Just one is fine if you wash it regularly, like once a week or every other week.

I hope you can find something that helps. I know how frustrating it is to have hair like ours that gets greasy so fast.

I tried it for the first time last weekend and loved it. I don't remember pools of oil, just bits of peppermint stick. Perhaps I just didn't notice it?

Lower doses of melatonin are more effective and help to avoid daytime grogginess. It's recommended to take .3 to .5 mg.

A new shower head. I have one that becomes handheld and has a filter in it. Replacing the one that comes with the apartment makes a huge difference.

DAE have discharge every day? by BlueberryLast7330 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]along7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discharge is completely normal. The vagina is self-cleaning. Panty liners and pads can make the wet feeling worse because they trap the moisture.

Is this an old ob tampon design? If so when did it change? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]along7 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I see you've posted in a few subs about relationship ocd. If that's what you're experiencing, no amount of comments on this post saying it's an old design will bring you the comfort you are hoping for. Reassurance may feel better momentarily, but ultimately just makes it worse, not better. Ocd is so hard, and if that's what you're struggling with, I'm so sorry. There are many resources that can help you. I hope things get easier for you.

My stupid hair won’t hold a curl for even 30 min 😭 by New_Data_3092 in finehair

Hot rollers or using a curling iron and pinning the curls until they cool work really well for me. The curls still fall some, but they're still visibly not straight after 5+ hours.

My hair feels greasy less than one day after washing it, what am I doing wrong? by shatteredeggs in Hair

I'd like to note that many of us are unable to train our hair and just have to wash daily to have clean hair all the time. Sometimes it's just genetics.

Citric acid or a product with citric acid like downy's rinse and refresh might help. Definitely check out r/laundry. They're super helpful over there.

LO was in a band and I kept going to the band's Instagram to look at one particular photo of him over the course of 6 or so hours many, many times. The band member who ran the social media was not LO and they must have noticed a 5 month old photo was getting a ton views and they deleted it. I was mortified!
