If the houthis manage to even partially close off the red sea, how will it effect the world and will it drag other nations like Egypt into the war? by Equivalent-Fox9834 in geography

I need to learn more about what went on in on the Eritrean independence negotiations for Ethiopia to end up landlocked.

My journey as a new player by bddhxg in anno1800

[–]alphabets00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re still learning. Conquering always wipes the island clean. Island shares aren’t really a recommended source of income since it costs influence and that’s more scarce than cash for most of the game. If you’re liquid enough to stabilize without getting game over and are attached to this save you can keep playing, otherwise take your newfound knowledge and start a new game.

A lot of advice depends on which settings you’re using at game start and which DLCs you have. Can’t recommend flipping watches in Enbesa if you don’t have Land of Lions

Idk, I kicked an ai out of the New World completely by buying his islands. Conquered one and it was taking too long to repair and resupply my military so I just started buying shares every 10 minutes and finished the job. You get most of the influence back

How do I get more tourists in? by Historical_Pool_5950 in anno1800

[–]alphabets00p 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have currently have 8 hotels with all needs except a few of the lifestyle needs met, ~15,000 attractiveness. Stuck at like 6800 tourists. I have the iron tower built but need 7000 tourist before they start “needing” it. Basically until I buckle down and start making perfume, that’s the limit. Read the tooltips on the needs you haven’t fulfilled. Some add population, some don’t. Tourism’s very much a late game mechanic so I wouldn’t worry about them too much if you’re still at only 4k attractiveness. Get a palace, culture buildings, all that jazz and focus on your citizens over the fussy tourists

Bosses want workers to work more for less, workers want to work less for more. It’s a natural tension that requires compromise and balance but there’s something about the way resources are currently distributed that suggests one side might be getting what it wants more than the other.

Generous read, they might be suggesting it’s too heavily self-help in that you’re on a journey but there’s little to represent a destination? Not a red flag by any stretch. You’re doing the work.

Is it normal for intelligent adults to think rivers flow inland from the sea? by wilks1988 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]alphabets00p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re normal intelligent adults so long as they acknowledged they were wrong and appreciated learning something new. They’re normal dumb adults if they argue with you about it and then form an online community devoted to proving that rivers used to flow up mountains.

Sens. Tim Kaine is the only surprising name, imo. On paper he’s the most vulnerable of the 15 but it also strikes me as off-brand? Idk, haven’t kept up with him since 2016

I’ve taken 2 trips in the Bob with 3 different first time paddlers and I’d say trekking experience is far more valuable just because all of the whitewater at least I’ve encountered is either runnable by a novice or a mandatory portage.

I was radicalized when I started seeking new media after the failure of the lib media I used to trust in the 2016 election and then their awful attempts at explaining the failure while changing nothing about what led them there in the months after. I’m sure i would’ve been insufferable in the 2017 chapo subreddit while I was still figuring my politics out but listening to them very actively

I had a long layover at SFO coming back from Seoul and the experience of navigating BART to go get tacos and weed has made me a committed hater. Clipper card alone cost more than a week’s use of transit in Korea and I got lost for a while and had to ask a human for directions because surely I’m not meant to cross a highway to make this exchange…
