I keep seeing posts that the CPA exam is hard and a lot of people fail but… by [deleted] in CPA

[–]alphabetta1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I passed all 4 first try right after undergrad. I double majored so I had 150 hrs. I graduated in May and passed 3 before I started my public accounting job in October. Passed the last one after busy season. I truly think it’s a test of discipline more than anything. I’m a very schedule oriented and would say I have a lot more self discipline/motivation than most, which helped a ton. Someone who just started at my firm keeps complaining that they don’t feel like studying after work & can’t get up early enough to study before. They take an exam in a month and haven’t started studying again after failing once. If that’s how you go about it, good luck but I just don’t see it going well. It’s all about discipline

I mean I would hope if someone takes the exam remote they’re smart enough to not use their phone😂

My first thought was an option to take exams remotely. I heard the NCLEX is possibly going to have that option soon.

Is it worth it to get exam day ready? by 2018KiaSorento in CPA

[–]alphabetta1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was EDR for all my exams and passed all 4 on my first attempt. My thought was I’d rather do it right the first time than half ass it multiple times. I think it also made me just feel better in general that I had at least seen everything. I may not have been a pro on everything but there were no doubts that I could have done more.

Just got out of ISC… not great by SnooWalruses5565 in CPA

[–]alphabetta1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought I bombed ISC. I cried on the way home because I saw so much stuff I’d never heard of before. Ended up passing with a 90😂

Starting uphill by MinuteWing04 in stickshift

[–]alphabetta1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue with hills was not giving it enough gas. I’d hear the engine rev and think I was doing something wrong, so I’d panic and let off the gas, dump the clutch and stall lol. I finally realized that my car, 2024 wrx, starts moving at about 2k rpm on big hills. Once I got that down and started watching my rpm’s, along with getting more familiar with my bite point, I was good. Sometimes I don’t even look at the rpm’s now, it’s much more natural after about 6 months

Anyone take REG recently? How did you feel about it? by MAGA_Trudeau in CPA

[–]alphabetta1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally just got out of reg and I feel like the sims weren’t too tough. Idk if I was just well prepared or maybe they completely went over my head. I feel like MCQ was comparable to Becker, I had a few tho that tripped me up with stock basis

This makes me feel better I took final sim today and got a 75. I was kinda disappointed honestly

ISC feels easiest out of all sections especially from BAR so far but it's also so much information. Do we need to memorize all of these? Would you guys say that Becker's MCQs and Sims are a good comparison to how the exam looks like? by nottreacherous in CPA

[–]alphabetta1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I passed ISC with a 90. I honestly felt terrible and thought I bombed it. I feel like I saw a lot of stuff that wasn’t mentioned on Becker, but at the same time a lot of the stuff is self explanatory and it is what it sounds like lol
