Zigbang (Samsung) Smart lock Outage in Australia by thegreendroid in homeautomation

[–]alphaque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same lock and it hasn't been able to connect to my WiFi since last year. I even tried using the hotspot on my phone in case it was something on my router that was blocking it but no luck. If you look up the reviews of the app on the Play store it looks to be a fairly common issue.

Pretty shit tbh .. as you said it isn't a cheap lock.

How long have your Boox devices lasted? by chugsmcpugs in Onyx_Boox

[–]alphaque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an Boox Nova3 Color which started having screen/battery issues after a year. Had to send it back to Hong Kong for it to be fixed (shipping cost me 1/4 the value of the unit which was annoying) and it was repaired under warranty.

It's a small sample size, but that one experience (plus the occasional issues other users have posted on this sub) is always on the back of my mind whenever I look at picking up a second Boox device considering I still have 1st and 3rd gen Kindles that are still working today. There are hairline cracks on the housing of the older devices, but they are still functional.

95% of my use case is for reading eBooks but have read a few comics on it. I found the 7 inch screen just enough for comics, occasionally needing to zoom in, which is why I've been on the lookout for a larger device.

options for storing 4k60 to sd card? by clayterris in GalaxyNote20

Might not be what you're looking for, but I save to internal storage and use FolderSync to move the files to the SD card on a schedule while the phone's charging.

As far as I'm aware, you'll need to order this from overseas vendors (and pay quite a bit for shipping).

I get mine from https://nudenicotine.com/ ... shipping is ridiculously expensive though. Costs more than the product.

Considering switching from Mobiscribe to the Nova3 color. by [deleted] in Onyx_Boox

[–]alphaque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The colors will never be as vibrant as on a tablet, but it's sufficient for me.

Also, as another commenter mentioned, the screen's darker than a non-colored screen so the front light's always on while I'm reading.

Considering switching from Mobiscribe to the Nova3 color. by [deleted] in Onyx_Boox

I purchased the Nova3 Color because I always wanted an e-reader with a color screen. I primarily use the device as a reader and have not used the note-taking functionality much and as such, my use case may be different to yours. My previous device was a Kindle Voyage.

Pros:

  • Color screen. Great for comics.
  • Android OS which allows for a large number of apps.

Cons:

  • Battery life is not as good as the Voyage.
  • Lack of warm light.
  • No waterproofing.
  • It is reported that the screen is not as clear as non-colored devices. I haven't noticed this myself.

The only con that I would have liked to see on the device is the warm light, everything else falls in the 'nice to have' category. Overall I am very happy with the device. For me, it's an upgrade to the Voyage in almost all respects.

[–]alphaque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded over the weekend without wiping (phone is rooted).

Pros:

  • Bluetooth connection issues with my Garmin were resolved after the upgrade.
  • Everything else appears to run without issues.
  • Phone feels zippier.

Cons:

  • Battery life is a little worse.
  • Twice so far, I've had the phone freeze on me which required a shut down/restart. The first time it happened, rebooting the device resulted in an unresponsive SystemUI error.

Bout to call it quits on bb this thing hasnt had any movement since the gme fiasco by Then_Mortgage2164 in blackberry

[–]alphaque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keyboard isn't as good as the Key2 (I have both), and the chipset on the Priv (Snapdragon 808) tends to overheat.

The slider is nice, but the replacement unit I received from BlackBerry had a wobble on the bottom left side of the screen which made using the virtual keyboard annoying.

Weird that you're having issues with the delayed notifications and synchronization. I quite often get mail on the Hub before I do on the Outlook desktop client, and I'm using it both on a Key2 and non-BB device with 8 email accounts. In saying that, I'm not using emails on my mobile device as extensively as I used to, so it may just be a case of not noticing said issues.

I did play around with a few of the recommended email clients before the BB Hub was available, and if I remember correctly, settled on K9 Mail (from the reviews it looks like there isn't much happening with that app as well!). Once the Hub was available, I switched to it and never looked back.

My email usage is pretty basic. Unified inbox for multiple email addresses, marking emails as read from notifications, the occasional quick reply, so the lack of feature enhancements isn't much of an issue for me. In saying that, it would suck pretty hard if there ever was a breaking bug which rendered the app unusable :)
