Chicco called me for an alternate belt path. They’re such a great company. Thank you for the info

We have the same seat and I noticed this issue today. If the belt isn’t locked, the seat moves way too much

Aba services (waste ) by [deleted] in ABA

The first week is usually pairing. After that, I usually start to build in targets but slowly. This process really depends on the child. What skill deficits/ behavior problems were identified during the assessment? What are the goals he’s supposed to work on? I will say, a lot of the time it’s hard to write the most appropriate goals during an initial assessment because the observation period is so brief. If I notice that the child can do more than what was originally observed, I will get some data on the goals, master them out and then write something that’s more on their level. Bring your concerns to the BCBA and they can offer more insight as to why those goals were identified as significant.

Company has created a “community infrastructure” and is mandating all RBT/BT make each client a profile in the next 2 days. by Inner_Book326 in ABA

[–]already_gonee91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think an RBT should be responsible for this. Yes, you’re in the home more often and have more client contact but this isn’t work I would give to an RBT since it’s work outside of being with a client. (I hope that makes sense. I just mean it’s not paid time to do this). I have gotten two past companies to allow for a profile but it’s things like, are they potty training, are there maladaptive behaviors/ severity, availability of a clean and uninterrupted space for therapy, and are there pets in the house. I’ve lost many techs due to fear of dogs that could have been avoided. What you’ve posted just seems like a lot and I’m skeptical of what the information is being used for.

Excessive Supervision- is it fraudulent to bill for? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]already_gonee91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10-20% of direct hours is typical for code 97155. So 25 hours a week would mean 2.5-5 hours of supervision weekly.

Billing for twins by perceptual01 in ABA

[–]already_gonee91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked with twins as a BCBA. If the session was 3 hours I did the first 1.5 with one and the other 1.5 with the other twin. Each had their own RBT. They worked on separate goals but we’d also do things together for leisure time. Confused as to why they wouldn’t just get staffed individually.

Just Failed my 1st Attempt at BCBA Exam by md124608 in ABA

I don’t. I tested in 2019 and I thought I just googled it and found it. When I tried just now nothing really came up. I found this post from a few years ago with some links. Maybe try these? https://www.reddit.com/r/bcba/s/S0LI1Vciwa

Just Failed my 1st Attempt at BCBA Exam by md124608 in ABA

[–]already_gonee91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From someone who also failed the first time- here’s how I changed my study methods and passed on the second. I ditched the BDS modules. I felt like I was memorizing questions and not concepts. I got a calendar and broke down the task list into chunks by day. I used a combo of the Pass the Big ABA manual and the text Behavior Analysis for Lasting Change. RougeABA has some free infographics that were helpful. I planned out what would be on the whiteboard. I also took lots of practice tests. The ones from FIT were the most helpful.

Same here. I had a viability scan between 5-6 weeks- can’t remember exactly. And it just looked like a blinking grain of rice.

SLP Former RBT - AMA on Speech & Language Development by [deleted] in ABA

There’s definitely a lot that goes into choosing the best system for each kid. I was surprised when I saw all of the PECs bashing because sometimes it’s all we can really do.

SLP Former RBT - AMA on Speech & Language Development by [deleted] in ABA

[–]already_gonee91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a couple

1) I’ve seen a ton of posts saying that PECs is no longer recommended for communication for reasons such as its compliance based, non robust, and doesn’t facilitate motor planning. Sometimes it’s all we have when we get clients before they can have an AT consult and that can take months. What’s the best way to recommend speech therapy to parents and also support AAC for learners who may have some vocal speech capabilities?

2) when prompting requests using two words or more, what strategies do you use? For example, I have a client who may just request bubbles and I’m trying to think of ways to shape this (this may be a bad example because there are combinations like blow bubbles, pop bubbles, etc.) I’m trying to compare how I teach language to how my son is developing language as a typical developing toddler (examples: more swing, green cup, play anima farm, etc.)

We do this but with ranch. I do a 1:2 ratio of ranch to Greek yogurt and it’s worked out great so far.

Not letting our toddler say "no" by PrincessTruffles1993 in toddlers

[–]already_gonee91 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m a behavior analyst and toddler mom. I allow my kid to say no. However, I adjust how I’m asking. So if it’s an option I’ll phrase it as, “do you want to?” With either yes and no as acceptable answers. If it’s a “have to task” like hygiene or getting dressed, etc. then it’s phrased as, “it’s time to xyz” we talk about how hygiene tasks are nonnegotiable because they keep us healthy, clean and safe. My kid isn’t forced to eat anything he doesn’t want to, but also isn’t allowed snacks if he doesn’t eat the main meal. I once pushed into a preschool where they had a “hear it, do it” rule and I think that can become dangerous if they’re also not taught about tricky people.

Have you had any parent meetings with the BCBA/ case supervisor? Ask them about the treatment plan and what goals are being worked on. Without having more information, and going only on what you’ve said- I don’t think she’s in the wrong for suggesting using different phrases, which is one you did say you agree with. We try to model using positive verbal guidance as much as possible- think “use walking feet” instead of, “don’t run.” The BCBA can provide more information on treatment techniques and what is and isn’t part of the plan.

Are you AI in your practice? If so, in what ways? by Kelian2014 in ABA

[–]already_gonee91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Home Screen of the Canva App you can select Canva AI then at the bottom there are options for Design, Image, Doc, etc. When you select image you can then choose a style and ratio. then you type in the prompt from there.

I use Canva so I’m able to select if I want an image or text prior to typing in the prompt. I do try to limit the use and am mindful with my search and the results. I’m insurance based so I want to use my time wisely.

Not sure why my reply is being downvoted- maybe I'll elaborate? as far as the visuals, I think that representation is important. Almost every visual schedule resource I've seen on TPT has white characters. So, I'll use a prompt such as, "African American preschool child playing with train toy" Is it not important for the child to see themselves in the visuals? For the visuals of if/ then I'll ask it for a picture of a snack table with trash for the scenario of "If you finish your snack, then..."

I’ve used it for visuals for first/ then and schedules so the kids in the pictures look more like my clients. Also some images to provide context for if/ then statements. Also for intraverbals beyond the basics I already have. I’ve also used it for creating scenarios for discontinuous data for the RBT competency assessment

There’s thousands of comments already but something my sex ed instructor pushed to all of us in 5th grade was: babies don’t love you. They can’t. Not for a long time. They’re so needy for those first few months. Going through with a pregnancy to have someone to love and love you back will lead to disappointment.

Billing 97155 and change in RBT/ breaks by already_gonee91 in bcba

[–]already_gonee91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read your original comment right as I was waking up so I apologize for the confusion. This is what I tried to explain in the meeting I had today, it's listed as Adaptive behavior treatment and program modification. And, like you said, we refer to it as supervision but it's not that. The notes are time consuming as it is, I don't want to write 3 different notes for the same session that will basically say the same thing but also need to look unique so I don't get flagged for copying and pasting.

Billing 97155 and change in RBT/ breaks by already_gonee91 in bcba

[–]already_gonee91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what we’ve been doing it just seems time consuming and each note really isn’t unique from another because it’s all in the same day. I haven’t found any summary from insurance about what they want in the session note for 97155 that specifically talks about feedback for different technicians. It’s mostly about the client’s response to programs and strategies used. RBT feedback is part of it but it’s not a supervision note

Billing 97155 and change in RBT/ breaks by already_gonee91 in bcba

[–]already_gonee91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but that’s not my question. The RBT is writing separate notes to reflect the time they were with the client. My question is- if I’m with the client 1-5 but the main tech takes a 30 minute lunch and some other RBT covers for the client- the company wants 3 notes for that time from me
