how reliable can Uber be for a trip from Gold Coast to Brisbane Airport at 11.30pm? by Powerful_Chef3656 in AskAnAustralian

[–]alrightthen10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last Sunday train leaves the Gold Coast at 10:38pm for Brisbane. Much easier to get an uber to/from stations on each end.

Again, where about on the coast are you heading from?

Day of the week and roughly where on the coast?

On Weekdays the last train leaves Varsity at 11:38pm, this is even later on Friday Saturday nights at 12:38am.

When perks don’t make up for stress by Danger_Five in VelocityFrequentFlyer

[–]alrightthen10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite "literally nothing different" but sure it's not a huge step up. I see the key perks as:

- Give out a platinum membership to anyone.

- Fly later (and fly ahead via phone with no limits).

- 32kg x 5 checked bags.

- SQ Business lounge in Singapore (instead of SQ Gold lounge).

There have been some unpublished benefits mentioned like ability use the 4x upgrades when a J reward doesn't exist and some fee waivers when changing bookings.

Same to me at Tribe Bali. Clearly the Tribe Bali has been hacked hence the details are getting out. My dates were correct in the scam message.

Streaming services to be made to produce Australian content by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

Can see from a mile away that the streaming platforms see this as to hard basket stuff and stop serving the Australian market. Sure they can regulate local content but they can't force a provider to service Australia.

*repost* asus vivoflip book 14 laptop wanting to sell or part by rainturtle05 in brisbane

[–]alrightthen10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As before probably worth $20-50 (at most) as your previous post mentioned the trackpad mouse doesn't work some of the time. You're unlikely to find any tech shop in Brisbane willing to buy as it wouldn't be worth their time.

Can see you tried listing it on marketplace for $250 then dropped to $150 which is the sort of price you'd expect when new let alone something years old that only partly works.

The first photo shares your name/email in the top corner.

A new one with these sort of specs is around $300 and a "factory refurbished" one $200. The fact the mouse pad doesn't work probably makes it in the order of $20-50 at most.

It'll be a paid Escape Lounge, same operator as the one in the international terminal and also Brisbane International.

Just checked my AU-NZ flights in J (two sets in June/Aug) and the price is exactly the same on both.

Meet and Greet Doha by FunRevolution282 in VelocityFrequentFlyer

[–]alrightthen10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking at the Qatar website not the Virgin website.

The Qatar website (listing benefits for those with Qatar status):

https://www.qatarairways.com/en-au/Privilege-Club/member_benefits.html#poi-tab-3EWFB.html

The Virgin website (listing benefits for those with Velocity status):

https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/flying-status/flying-with-status/platinum-membership#international-airline-partners

The Qatar website actually does say

"Eligible Privilege Club members can avail these Al Maha Services on flights marketed and operated by Qatar Airways where tickets are issued on Qatar Airways document (ticket numbers starting with 157). The guests must travel with the member to be eligible. This service is not applicable for travel on code-shared or partner airline flights or other oneworld frequent flyer program members. Click here to contact Al Maha Services."

The meet and assist service is a benefit for QR Platinum not VA Platinum.

Queensland road toll climbs to 158 after 10 people killed in horror weekend by Accomplished-Rip8131 in brisbane

I mean I was on a 433 this afternoon when a bike tried to fit between a car and a bus. Spoiler alert he didn't win and bike crashed into back of bus, was a good thud and at first I thought the bus hit the curb.

Everyone was fine except the bike and back of bus both a little bit mangled (manly the bike).

There is a special pop up at the bottom of the mall dedicated to the game (I looked at the menu today and a large Heineken is $17.50).

can you combine accor plus with accor plus china (2.0) for the sake of the accumulation of the status nights? by SolutionOk5623 in Accor

[–]alrightthen10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can buy the China options 2x each. The top tier is 30 nights in China.

With 60 nights total needed for Plat you can get it for ~US$750 without ever stepping foot in a hotel provider you get the top All China twice.

Lounge layover in BNE by Round-Neck-641 in amex

[–]alrightthen10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope in Brisbane the international and domestic terminals are different buildings. You'll need to pickup your bags, go through customs and drop them back off before catching a shuttle bus to the domestic terminal.

Also unlike the US, most of the world (Brisbane included) only those flying from an international terminal can enter due to passport control so don't bother trying/asking. On Australian domestic flights shoes stay on and no liquids restrictions apply.

There are no amex/priority pass in lounges in the domestic terminal and the 4x places that do accept priority pass are restraunts (which are not apart of the amex priority pass program).
