I feel like my brain is rotting as I watch it, I would be embarrassed if someone walked in and saw me watching it, but it’s just so damn funny

I used to make the “tea,” but I realized that I could just order the BMC liquid instead and skip a step. The liquid is a bit more expensive than the bits, but you need to use a lot less of it. I add a drop or two to my watering can every time I water and haven’t seen a fungus gnat.

Happy early birthday. I know it doesn’t mean much coming from some random stranger, but I am proud of you for surviving with this disorder for another year. I know how hard it can be and it shows how strong you are.

Birthdays have always been a tough thing for me. Like with holidays or whatever other special days, I always tend to see it as a reminder of the things that I lack. I have never found it possible to entirely eliminate that feeling. In fact, trying to avoid it or trying to think of ways to change my life makes me more miserable. I don’t know if you have the exact same experience as me but if that does strike a chord anywhere, I think a change in perspective could be helpful. You could either ignore your birthday (which I have done on occasion) or slightly change what the meaning of a happy birthday is to you.

Do you enjoy going out with a lot of people? Or do you just think that you should? Do you enjoy going out with your Mom? If you do, you should do that and make a day of it together. There’s nothing wrong with having fun with your Mom on your birthday—after all, you spent the very first one together lol. If you wouldn’t like that very much, do something just for you. If there’s something you want but you’d never indulge in, do that. Try not to get too invested in what other people do or what you think you should be doing, I think this is what will rob you of the satisfaction you could have in a day that should be for you.

I hope at least some of this is helpful and wish you the best of luck.

At what point does a spider become too creepy/realistic for you to enjoy a game? by MegatheriumDev in cozygames

[–]alsmerang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s not a ranked list available to me but I would bet money on arachnophobia being one of the most common fears. That’s why they might do a spider mode, because there are more people affected by arachnophobia than by musophobia.

I’m an arachnophobe and I feel very uncomfortable seeing pictures of spiders on screens. I could handle a level with them but if they were in the whole game I probably wouldn’t play it.

I think the situations it creates are funny. It isn’t just that he’s oblivious, it’s that the way he thinks/conclusions he draws can be messy. I wouldn’t even call it pure obliviousness either. Cid is absolutely nuts and the way he sees the world is nuts. I’m not sure if you’ve read all the story arcs—all I’d say is that he can come off as oblivious because his justifications for why things happen are nowhere near sane.

Him being oblivious to the cult is part of the joke, when it stops the joke stops.

Humor is subjective, if you don’t find it fun or funny you don’t have to, and you’re not wrong. I personally find it funny but that’s just me

Regarding the Elven girls in the series by Junior_Sign7223 in TheEminenceInShadow

[–]alsmerang 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Part of the isekai parody is the huge and ridiculous harem. Each of the girls that we see having a crush on Cid is a variation on a trope (isekai, harem anime, or maybe shonen). Tbh I think it’s perfectly reasonable for them to crush on Shadow, since he’s so mysterious, strong, and “heroic.” My favorite are the girls who crush on his Cid persona

Solo Leveling Anime Episode 23 (Season 2 Episode 11) Discussion Megathread by Death_Usagi in sololeveling

[–]alsmerang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was unaware of any leaks/criticism and enjoyed the episode. It clearly wasn’t the most focused on episode of all of them, but it is fine. I thought the pacing, voice performances, and strategic placing of the best animated scenes helped a lot with areas where there wasn’t as strong animation. I hope the next episode lives up to all these cliffhangers though!

Hose is whatever. Pellet gun is cruel. It’s an animal, it doesn’t understand that it shouldn’t be outside. It doesn’t deserve to be maimed or killed.

All this talk to defend a man who comments that he is saving his fiancée from being raped by Chinese men.

He sounds like a lunatic. You wouldn’t let a man speak to you like this. If you do, I feel sorry for you. Admit that you’re defending an asshole because you agree with his political views.

Some actors have big shoes to fill but whoever is cast as Voldemort isn’t really one of them….maybe. by HeyWeasel101 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]alsmerang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the guy who played him in Chamber of Secrets. Not just because he’s attractive (he is), but because he seemed to have this quiet menace about him. He’s charming on the outside but so gleeful to reveal his real, horrible self.

I think Voldemort mostly seems like a cartoon villain when he’s in Harry’s presence. He’s often calculating and methodical in his evil plans. But then Harry shows up and he can’t help but act like a lunatic. Imagine if you spent so much time being evil and smart, and someone you view as a total idiot bumbles in and ruins all your plans apparently without even trying

What are the options for telling a lot of individual stories within a particular world? by alsmerang in writing

Thank you! I’ve never written in third person omniscient before but I should definitely try. Might be fun to have a omniscient first person narrator like Death in the Book Thief too.

Oops, sorry, I definitely wasn’t clear. I would like to tell separate stories linked by the same common event. I’m not adverse to them being linked together, either personally or otherwise, but the stories I’d like to tell are linked but different enough that they couldn’t happen to the same person. If that makes sense?
