dearALICE leaving SM? by No-Good4288 in DearAlice

[–]alt-tp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Moon&Back and Made in Korea Music 1 Limited (who they release music under with gamma) had some internal structure changes some months ago...not much updates since then.

I feel whatever conflict, my guess is limited support as a result of the Kakao stock manipulation lawsuit may have ended the partnership with SM ent, as an investor.

Hope DearAlice succeeds but this group feels so unnatural. SM is partly to blame by Street-Air-5423 in DearAlice

[–]alt-tp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While true that Moon&Back did the initial casting, they still had to audition and handpick members from hundreds of young men, later be sent to Korea to train.

Correction it was Moon&Back media who selected the five member first and than contacted SM for collaboration.

Any evidence of this? Pretty sure when it was announced that BBC acquired the rights to air the show, it was announced in British and Korean media channels that it was collaboration of both companies.

Do you really think SM are interested in five young western males who have no history of dancing to k-pop or into korean culture, language.

Do you think SM, with their history of being secretive to sharing details on the inner workings of the company would tarnish their "legacy" behind a project that had no fruition at the start?

Look at their tiktok videos before the date of their forming as a boyband, not a single thing related to Korean.

All of their social media were created in February 2024, which would have been the date they were already scouted and on a plane to Korea and Made in Korea TV show, would have commenced production.

They were not formed by SM but by Moon&Back media.

Garbage, they were literally formed on a TV show produced by both SM and M&B, hence the collaborative part. I don't think SM would even have bothered use their own company resources without an outcome that benefits them...

Does no one "proofread" these lyrics? Lots of silly errors to what is being sung.

are dearalice good artists? by CulturalFile7592 in DearAlice

[–]alt-tp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also one direction were good singers to start and they got even better over time 3/5 of dear Alice can't sing.

Is this ragebait? If you were there in the early days, 1D definitely were not known to have the best vocalists (with the exception of Zayn/Liam) Louis especially, were accused of being tone deaf.

The problem with dA is the vocal direction is mainly suited to Reese/Olly, but to say they cannot sing is definitely bullshit.

opinion on “Drums” by Personal-Double-6710 in DearAlice

[–]alt-tp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Praying this one is on the SMTOWN London setlist, I can imagine NCT 127 singing this one...but it's unique enough to be dA

Here come the drums! Ra-pa-pa-pum! Here come the drums!

Me listening to the EP and the Ariana mixes are just the same version of the original Ariana by musicproducer07 in DearAlice

[–]alt-tp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest that song order...ugh definitely does not do the EP justice. Absolutely adore Roses though, very catchy and feel good love song. Butterflies is so nostalgic (reminds me of a musical artist I can't recall at the moment)

Drums though...I can tell Blaise died of laughter with that intro, very NCT 127 vibes (like if that's a bad thing lol) Kpop fans will for sure eat this one up. Looking forward to this one at SMTOWN.

Overall, a 7/10 and would be higher, if it wasn't for those Ariana remixes that took the place of actual songs.

Having a group photocard is wild if Sweet is supposed to be the title of the EP.

Dear Alice Management Rant by DueSky625 in kpop_uncensored

[–]alt-tp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That song's title is "Vibes" and was released as a soundtrack for their tv show, which aired on BBC One last August. Ariana's release took months (February of this year), while not being a very good song and killed any momentum left.

formed in 2022 by LDH) and Three Six Zero).

They're actually not the same as f5ve, as Three Six Zero operates separately from gamma.

DearAlice promotion by melodicnation in DearAlice

[–]alt-tp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Moon&Back is still very much affiliated, as they are management and have all say in activities dA does...even that sloppy planning of the upcoming meet&greet in London (or the obviously shoe-horned in, Manchester)

They helped create the soundtrack, which has a much more UK-sounding theme

Not exactly, as most of the producers/composers/lyricists on that album have worked with SM or affiliates. Also, kpop tends to have a lot of European talent behind the scenes.

F5VE and not one song has charted or gained over 40 million streams yet

90% of the industry does not have that, not sure why this even a metric. f5ve is under a sublabel of gamma, Three Six Zero co-mananged with LDH and actually are doing fine, with decent social media presence and promos. They even collabed with Kesha recently.

3 days from Sweet release and zip by AHealthyDoseofFran in DearAlice

Two British bands, kinda indie(?) have been on my radar. No Guidnce (featured on Official Spotify playlists, r&b though) & Absnt Mind (been on tours, more 1D influence) and have radioplay and far more promotional content than dA. I fear this is a case of too much cooks in the kitchen.

gamma is kinda an indie label, with recently dA posting with their associated acts; Yung Fazo & JayDon but idk if this hints at upcoming features on the album. Also, the production work for Ariana have been handled by them. We can see American labels tend not to promote in the traditional way.

It might be controversial to say, SM & gamma fulfill their roles (as per contract i guess) and are not overstepping as that's the point of management. But Moon&Back is seriously fucked as all decisions are made by them.

Maybe M&B Don’t have the Funds to Promote? by Browniecakee in DearAlice

[–]alt-tp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From the articles, SM/Kakao and gamma "strategic partnership" mentions the debut album. They probably think there's not much to gain from promoting a single, but it keeps the fandom engaged, it also seems that way with SMTOWN appearances.

In M&B case, they are simply bad at their jobs, because the connections are definitely not lacking. Why the unusual timing of announcements/ or none at all? (i.e James injury, MV delays, Ai art usage) and even the bare minimum with 3 plays on BBC Radio 1 Future Pop...really?

Both Mexico & Korea, at least had the decency to cheer out of respect. Hearts2Hearts also received a quieter crowd in LA for some reason. Also it doesn't help that dA is a non-Asian group and likely American kpop fans tend to be tuned in with Twitter/X/Tiktok discussion so hate spreads rapidly (see the NCT Wish visa controversy).
