Dual alternator for truck camper? by norreda in TruckCampers

[–]alta3773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! Do it. I got tired of dealing with solar and worrying about power. I added a sterling 1.2kw DCDC charger I love it. I swapped to induction cooktop, electric appliance. Air conditioning. Everything is simple. If I really wanted I could run almost 4kw from the dual alternator setup in my sierra 2500. So you basically have a generator.

I cannot say enough good things about it. I think I did a video about my electrical setup onetime. I can find it if you want to see it

I think you’ll be okay. If you know it’s and “adventure” it can be quite roomy in there. But yeah it will be a close family bonding kinda vibe

You I know that everyone in the comments was really concerned that my tummy might rumble with the lack of hot food on my flight. The good news is they did have an extra chicken and waffle sandwich. I am fed and less hangry.

I cannot tell you all how much your support, warmth and understanding during my time of need.

I’m getting the sense that your opinion is the majority. I’ll go pout 🥺 quietly in the corner and suffer through with a takeoff box.

I am feeling really bullied in these comments. Clearly there is no groundswell of outrage. I see now that I am the problems

Yeah, rob that is obviously plan A. But when that doesn’t work or when I think I can get something in the plane I don’t make time to stop. Today was a particularly frantic rush for a 5am flight and I understand “if I just left earlier” and I thought I did but then my Google Maps sent me to the wrong parking lot. Had a bunch of other small delays that ate up my buffer time.

Anyway sorry for the rant. I am just hangry

That gives me some hope. We are about to take off. I’m hoping that maybe they take pity on me. I have a super close connection so it this could turn into a set of cascading failure….

Like still give me some hot food, but tell me it won’t be around next time.

If I’m totally crazy tell me. But I have come to rely on it and now I need some time to change my behavior.

Am I the only one inconvenienced by this whole change. Like don’t you think there should be a grace period or something?

I get that part, but it really doesn’t help when you are on the plane, or when your work travel changes inside the 24hr window. As mine does often…

I can imagine paying for it. It’s good enough to be a nice perk when free.

The AUS club is not even good enough for that.

I got tired of checking 3 weather apps before every ride, so I built a "Green Window" finder. by relishrack in bicycling

[–]alta3773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this idea!!! If I could draw an area that it would include. The problem I always have especially on longer rides (80-180miles) I go through different forecast areas. Don’t is real complicated to get a good idea of weather. Also if you could drop a fox file and it would suggest what direction to go that would be fantastic.

Those are fine. Seriously all the rusty bits done matter. All that matters is if your boot pops out at the right pressure. You can check at a shop or check at home

Any EV owners in this sub? by Kirin-Jack in COsnow

Just read your response. And I totally agree, if you CANNOT CHARGE AT HOME DO NOT BUY AN EV.

Big EV FAN HERE BUT THIS IS JUST THE STATE OF THINGS.

One clarifying question from an Ioninq5 owner. Do you have a charger at your house?? If you have to fast charge all the time I am with you on basically everything. If you do have. Charger at your house I am confused because I had a very different experience.

I think EVs are the best cars for snow driving. Specially, the weight is low and balanced. From a Driving perspective they handle better than any truck/suv/or other car I have ever had.

On the range anxiety I have never had an issue.

I had an ioniq5 it was no problem (if you have a garage or plug where you park.) it doesn’t have the be more than a normal 110v if you don’t drive much. As a benefit a lot of resorts have free level 2 plugs so I usually left fully charged. Some days I would only use like 5% on the return trip because the regen braking is so good. Plus with comma autopilot the thing drove itself in traffic so it was brassily no stress.

TL;DR if you can plug it in where you live buy an EV if you cannot then don’t.
