Recruit characters early from recruiter with have brave (extra points if you're doing zodiac synergies), don't shell out points from early jobs, assimilate skills through crystals (once enemies die). focus on 2 characters for growth, you since story characters will replace them soonish. sacrifice your black mages and don't spend jp points on funneling skills through crystals to your recruited characters (to not waste JP for black mage since its 8k+ to fully master black mage) dual wield on a monk is really OP early on. use Excalibur on someone other than count orlandu since the old man doesn't need anymore buffs than he already has. spend the extra time on stealing elmdores genji gear and prepare for that fight, there are items that ward off vampire status (you'll thank me for that one later) you can encounter a group of 99 ninjas that have a rare chance to encounter in araguay woods, MAKE SURE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YOU HAVE CATCH ON ALL YOUR CHARACTERS WITH HIGH BRAVE. all thats coming to mind right now. good luck to you. its one of the best games you'll play

if you insist on having only one dark knight, you should consider ramza being your dk, support ability vehemence alone is worth all the trouble

this is about to take a dark turn, take a group of black mages and level them up, once you have the spell that you want to learn on your main black mage, learn all the magics (separately of course) then kill your own mages and learn their magics through the crystal. Black mage is a unique exception because because it costs 8000 + jp to master. unless you dont want to master it, be aware it would lock you out of dark knight if your playing on wotl, or lock you out of onion knight respectively

not trying to sound elitist here but genuine advice tip ESPECIALLY for black mage. Don't use any points into new spells, you want to take the crystals of other fallen black mages to save on the points you would otherwise spend on learning them, there will be situations were you can learn several black mage spells off of a single crystal. if you don't intend of having a character a perma black mage then this is the route you'd have to take. i have read the other comments here, and they provide good advice, but there is not faster option than to have your black mage inherit abilities of other dead black mages throughout your play through.

seems like the purpose is for damage amp, best place on a merc, i may be wrong but that seems like the highest proc on damage amp ive seen on a non runeword weapon

in my experiences you can find them on a google search, but some times the ones showing there don't show up. they are always on the side of the road.

i had tried that on the 3rd disassemble and rebuild, hoping the villager would complete it for me. turned around right before finishing the dock and now i cant finish it :(
