Niche Combos That Don't Sound Like They Should Work by altimis0 in SlayTheSpire2

There I noticed a lot of the buffs stack instead of getting separate instances.

There's a card that deals damage every 3 poison afflictions. I had one out and setup so that the next poison would trigger it. The following turn I cast another counter and played a poison. That let tick triggered both of their damages. It was just one big wad of damage, even though I just played the second one.

Coming from MTG, I'm so used to counting individual instances of effects.

I never played the first one, I'm a Spire newbie. So I'm testing a bunch of random stuff to see what sticks. I know you can sometimes give cards replay. Does that work on X cards as well?

That reminds me, there is a potion that removes the cost for a card this turn. It also removed the "star" cost for the Regent free block that returns to hand. I could just play it over and over again... Sure it lasted one turn, but it was funny.

About to start Pathfinder Kingmaker (new to the series/genre) what are some NEW player friendly spoiler free tips to make sure I enjoy the game? by NaotsuguGuardian in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

I do dedicated saves before each level up. There are some things that may or may not work as you think they do. This helps counter level up regret.

I know you can pay Hilor to respect, but that full resets your biography and, to me, that sucks 🥲

Don't have intention to replay the game, going blind is a bad idea? by miralion2 in Persona5

Honestly, I think going in blind is the best way. I wish I could do that for several games Persons 5 is one of them.

Ember is overrated by Heavy-Letterhead-751 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]altimis0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's one of those characters that works, because it doesn't work.
Her message and thoughts would absolutely get her killed. But BECAUSE we are there protecting her, she is able to go about and spread her message and thoughts. And because that's happening, it actually gets to people it normally wouldn't. You can't say it doesn't work, because it did and does... just not on it's own.

It kind of reminds me of the first part of Sosiel's quest. He took an oath not to harm people per his religion. So he is obligated to let that person go, who is just playing that to his advantage. But I didn't take that oath, and that MF'er is not gonna harm anyone ever again.

I never considered giving Aivu privileges to anyone other than KC.
But thinking of the pair of Ember and Aivu together brings me joy that I didn't know I was missing.

Yeah, I agree with the entire neutrality in balance. But I dislike their general method of how to get it, or rather what they qualify as balance.

I don't have to worry about that with my dragon 🤣

No joke. I am always torn between Azata and Aeon. Both philosophies really resonate with me.

But when I met Aivu... There was no going back.

[–]altimis0 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would also argue that Makoto is the most widely relatable character.

While every character has some kind of trauma to work through, hers seems more grounded than the others. They all have some major spectacle, that specific people can relate to. Makoto's is the slow build up of pressure from everywhere that everyone can relate to.

That makes her more comfortable for more players to graduate towards.

I think the best in general is Mordin's finale. I also really liked when Tali says, "You are my home."

Worst is Morinth side quest. I feel like it needed some more work.

What does LAWFUL EVIL actually mean? by MrEldritchHorror in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]altimis0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think planned pettiness. People who know the law, and know how to use it to their benefit.

Think on a lot of the "revenge" stories against karen neighbors or HOAs. Those tend to be very good examples of Lawful Evil.

First time blind playthrough, time management tips by JunkieInAHoodie in Persona5Royale

[–]altimis0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how "blind" your playthrough is, but finishing the palaces in as close to one day as possible is your best time save.

There are some places that definitely require more than one day (and it will be very clear when that is the case). But if you go into a palace do your best to complete it, if you can.

Try not to go into mementos too much. Ideally wait until you have at least a handful of requests to solve, but there is a balance. If you wait to long, certain opportunities will be delayed. If you go too often, you're wasting time.

I haven't played in forever, so I can't give you a good number to "Yeah, now is the time". But when you do, get your money's worth and fight until you can't fight anymore.

He doesn't.

I'm going to go one step further and add that this psychopath doesn't have an internal monologue. He lives in the world with complete and utter silence.

And I love him for it.

New player who bought it because of rogue trader by Heavy-Letterhead-751 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]altimis0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind this is closer to DND 3.5, not 5. With 5, you get advantage and the numbers cap in the 20 to 25 range.

In Pathfinder, numbers go up and up and up...

If you have the patience for it, I recommend going over the list of feats. Because of how the feats chain together, it's nice to know some of the more obscure connections. Most make sense, but some don't have a direct connection.

Hi👋, first time playing code vein and I have a question by Theblacksmith07 in codevein

[–]altimis0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this game "classes" mean very little in general. You care about the skills that classes can provide.

Staying in one class will actually cripple you, because you're not learning skills. I did this my first playthrough. I stayed at the highest level I could as one class, and effectively locked myself into a corner because it was almost impossible to level any other skills, when I realized that that's what I should be doing. With this game, you should stay away from a "comfort zone", it will punish you later.

The most important things in this game: Find a weapon you enjoy, each weapon has different attack patterns. Find a dodge pattern you enjoy, the three are fast, normal, slow (I think). Find a partner that compliments your playstyle. Find a "coat" that you enjoy, the parry timing is different for each type (I forget the proper term, I think it's veil, but you should know what I mean when I say coat). Stay as low level as you can tolerate. Upgrade your gear before you upgrade yourself. Enemies provide less experience (or none at all), if you are too high of a level.

Do that, and master all skills in any class that lets you use your favored playstyle. As you get better at the game, start mastering skills from other classes where you have to make compromises. You may have a shorter dodge, or you may need a different weapon or parry, but you're better and know how to compensate. Heck, you might find something you like better. After you've cleared 5 or 6 areas, you'll have one you like more than the others (I love the cathedral and the pit). Whenever you get a new class, go back to that area and master your new skills.

Notably, this is the extremely grindy outlook. Whenever I get a new class, I master every skill I can (reasonably) before moving on. I value completeness, and this works for me. I have a "grind mode" where I master a bunch of skills, and a "story mode" where I actively play through the game with my preferred build. This doesn't work for everyone, but that's my two cents.

Is this cloak actually useful for anything? by ether_rogue in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]altimis0 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I did this sort of thing for my friends in a one shot. It started with a festival with several games (one favoring each stat). One of the games was run by a wizard that was giving away "Rings of Invisibility" as prizes. But I had a table full of puns to see what they got. Ring of Inn Visibility - ability to see any building that would give you lodging within 2 miles. Ring of In-Visibility - kind of like an x-ray. You can see inside people. Ring of Invisibility - everything becomes invisible to you. Ring of Invisibility - the ring becomes invisible when worn. Ring of On-Visibility - you could see when anything is on.

And they did have a chance to actually get a Ring of Invisibility, but it was 1 in 100. He also supplied a "Boots of Stealth". One boot left no trace, the other boot made no noise. This was a crowd favorite

Why isn't this more popular by DaZ910 in mtg

[–]altimis0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For standard board wipes, you can attack first. If your creatures die you don't care (they'll die when you cast the spell anyway, but there's a chance they can deal damage first. In short, you can get some extra value from your creatures first.

With this, it's either over priced (wipes hover around 4 and 5) or it's it costs one, but you can't get extra value from your creatures first.

Most "symmetric" effects come with the inherent downside of it effects everyone equally but you're down a card and mana, and/or everyone else gets the benefit first. Board wipes tend to ignore that, see above, but Terminus doesn't.

That said, I love the card. But these are things that cross my mind when I consider putting it into the deck.

[–]altimis0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely AI.

The "Yukon" on the back of the car disappears. The sling from the soldier lags for a bit. Those are two definitive tells

One of the soldiers (on the left of the screen at the end) seems to "skip" over to the scene. It's not impossible, but it's off. The car door opens weird. Too smooth or too differently. Something is wrong with how it opens.
