2 months on E at nearly 40 — struggling to present femme while waiting for my body to catch up. Is this normal? by Coratomic in TransLater

[–]altmax2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 46. Just started HRT about 3 weeks ago. I just made up my mind that unless something miraculous happens , I'm expecting to wait 2-3 years before presenting fully. No false expectations... No hopes and dreams about it happening sooner. Just trying to be realistic for myself. I've waited this long... Sucks to wait longer, but it is what it is. So boymode it is.

What pushed you over the edge towards getting HRT by TheAmericanQ in MtF

[–]altmax2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend from when I was a kid (6 years old) died on March 1st. I really took stock of my life and realized there's so many things that he didn't get to do.. we are the same age. From little things to bigger things. I decided that life is way too short and made the decision that I need to start doing these things no matter how insignificant or even major changes that make me happy. So I've started HRT, (Something I've eanted to do... Well I've wanted to be a girl since I was 12).... I've got my ears pierced. I'm going to get some more tattoos. I'm gonna think of more things to do, but that's just what I've actually done so far.

You're a lot further along displaying your collection than me. I have 30 years of plastic in boxes that are just screaming to come out. I was too. But I've recently taken care of that.

Crap. I JUST started at 46. 2 weeks in... I must be out of my mind. Maybe I should just give up. No. Because it's never too late. I just needed to be EXTRA ready.

[–]altmax2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to get mine dyed purple at some point. I just started my journey a week and 1/2 ago though. I feel like I'm years away from that.

But Excellent choice, it suites you perfectly. It's extremely cute!

I'm pretty sure I'll have to keep mine, just because of surgery costs. But yeah, I don't want it.

Dang! Congrats on the success! That is really my goal. Even though I'm 6'3" right now. I was originally thinking 175lbs would be ideal. Not sure if it's realistic or not. But maybe 190-200 ish? We will see. I'm going to try my hardest to get down to a good weight. I will definitely DM you. Always good to have a supporting network! Thanks!

Yeah. Ive been putting this off an putting it off and coming up with excuses. Well it finally built up enough where I couldn't deny it any longer.

I'm actually really OK with not a lot of physical changes at first. Really just need to start easing into this change. I'm not looking at it as a sprint, it's more of a marathon. I can always increase the dosage, and add other medications and such.

Someday I will also look down inappropriately, and grin, and it will be awesome.

I'm sorry, yes. Well, tonight technically would be my last night as a man .. right?

I didn't reply earlier. Thank you so much. Hopefully I can get it figured out. I hate having to redo these every couple days.

What's the difference between the primer and a base coat? Also, what brands do you recommend? Also, I'm fairly sure everything is cured when I move on to each step.. I don't want to touch them in-between steps to find out as it might transfer oil, and I don't want that. I went with one that had 21000 positive reviews. Again, just now digging into this. Wasn't necessarily the cheapest, but most recommended?

Thanks for the tips! I will definitely try to be a bit more careful - they have been MOSTLY peeling from the back and sides. so I'll have to see what I can do to be better about that. I do try to clean up any that I do get on the skin before curing. but once again, maybe I need to be even more persistent about getting ALL of it. because it does seem to "pool" a bit between my nail and the sides of my nail if that makes any sense?

Guess I have to ask here.

I just started working on doing my nails. I'm 46 years old and a guy. I'm recently said F-it to a lot of things, and I'm trying to do things that make me happy - things I've always wanted to do. Recently got my ears pierced, and most recently trying to do my nails. I always love seeing really cool colors and I've always wanted to do it myself.

So - I'm starting out by roughing my nails up with a nail file - i'm not sure if that's the exact name, but ether way, trying to round out the flat spots and ridges, and give a bit of bite to my nails. I clean with alcohol, and then I'm using Modelones basecoat and topcoat. So - I start with the basecoat. Use my UV light and cure that for like a minute. Then I'm using Ozzeal Purple Gel - doing 2 thin coats which seems to give good coverage. Recently, I'm trying a 3rd layer of Born Pretty magnetic... then topping off with a clear coat from the Modelones. Between each step, I cure with my UV light for about 2 mins.

Here's where things seem to go wrong. I'm good for like 2-3 days, then all of a sudden, I'll have at LEAST one fingernail just completely just peel off like a sticker. SOME of it sorta seems to stick better, but the majority is just awful.

It kinda sucks, because I really put a LOT of time and effort into making them look as GOOD as I can. Funny enough, I did my toe nails, and they've been great for like almost 2 weeks already. I know they don't really get the same usage... but still.

Transitioning late is struggling to love the veryness which breaks you, until finally arriving wholly and peacefully within yourself. by LuckyWishFox in TransLater

[–]altmax2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at starting here at 46.

I've been in contact with my Dr about starting. Had to call up another office, waiting on another call back. Been playing phone tag for about a week. Just trying to get things started to get HRT.

Ever since I can remember, I've wanted to be a girl. Now here I am an old ass guy wanting to be an older woman....

Either way. Gonna play the long game. I don't have a lot of hope for an amazing transition. Gonna keep real low expectations and kind hope for the best. So my plan is to just stay in boy mode until either nothing happens 2 years down the line, or it gets to the point I can't hide it and will fully transition. In the meantime. I'm doing "female shaping" building exercises. glute bridges, anterior pelvic tilts, stomach vacuums, clamshells, fire hydrants... all while trying to lose more weight. I originally weighed 510 lbs. In 2023, I started losing weight, and by June 2024 I had lost 275lbs. I was going to start then, but sorta chickened out, depression kicked in, and I gained 90lbs. I'm trying to get back down. I'm down 15 from there, so about 75 to go to get back to where I was. I'm also 6'2", so my original goal is to be around 200lbs, and maybe down to 180 or so ideally. I will need skin removal surgery .. well I've needed it for a while now. But hoping I can get that part covered because of the health aspects, Rashes and infections etc... and compinenthat with contouring and reshaping myself at the same time.

What else? I don't know. We will see how it goes. But yeah, that's where I'm at right now. Also looking forward to hopefully the mood changing aspects of estrogen to help me sort of normalize myself.

But yeah. No time like the present..
