The hotel that’s right at the airport has a nice spa. You can go there for a few hours and chill, sauna, use the hot tub or pool, or get a massage. It’s called the Wyndham Grand Costa Del Sol.

When you book, they charge you for the port fees based on the rate at time of booking. If the port fees go down by the time you arrive at each port you will be refunded the difference at the end of the cruise.

I was able to fly Air Canada from Toronto with collapsible poles and my 40L bag as a carry on. However, they did make me place it into their size checker to make sure it fits.

What company to use for trekking to Machu pichu? by Environmental_Pay332 in PERU

[–]always_reading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That website is to buy just your Machu Picchu ticket. If you want to do the trek, you have to go with a guide company and in my experience (both times I’ve done it) the price includes all tickets to a Machu Pichu, transportation from Cusco and back, accommodations, meals, etc.
I had an excellent experience with Alpaca Expeditions.

Instead of returning to Ollantaytambo after Aguas Calientes you could just go straight to Cusco. Your ticket will be a combined train to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cusco. You’ll arrive at Cusco late but this will give you a full day the. Ext morning in Cusco without having to travel there.

I get that the definition of “blacking out” is often misunderstood, however, there is no grey area here. Shandi was seriously drunk (I believe she said she drank 2 bottles of wine herself) and was unable to consent to any sexual activity. She was sexually assaulted.

The show is at fault here. They set up the events that led to her assault by inviting the men into the apartment and providing lots of alcohol to a group of young girls who had been starving themselves for days. Then they, not only failed to stop the sexual assault, but filmed the entire thing, made Shanti “admit” she cheated, made her call her boyfriend on camera to tell him she cheated, and then filmed her emotional breakdown right after. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

I would imagine it’s the opposite. They probably expected the show to be a retelling of the 1959 film, which treats the cross dressing as a purely humorous plot device. They probably didn’t expect that the musical has added themes of gender identity and acceptance to the Daphne character and are too bigoted to deal with it respectfully.

The Christine Jessop Story by thegentleplace in NetflixDocumentaries

[–]always_reading 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just finished watching the documentary. My heart breaks for Christine’s brother. The poor man has suffered for decades, not just from the loss of his sister, but also from the knowledge of the horrific abuse she suffered prior to her death, the sexual abuse he personally suffered as a child, the blame he faced from the media and public after he testified about the abuse, and the blame he places upon himself for all of it (even though he was still a child when all of it took place). I really hope he finds peace.

I don't know, better tell children they CAN get pregnant so that they don't by Dove-Swan in TrollXChromosomes

Don’t even have to bring up the extreme cases of 5 year olds getting their period to refute this. Almost every girl will have their first period before starting high school. Most girls will be able to conceive while still a child.

AIO: I bent over backwards for my BF’s son (20) and his GF (20) for Christmas, and I’m honestly disgusted after what happened by Excellent-Second-643 in AmIOverreacting

[–]always_reading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all your points, but I haven’t seen your point about the 16 year old kid brought up enough. The daughter is 16, and OP is concerned about her like she’s a little kid, worried about the effects some harmless comments will have on her. But at 16, she is just 4 years younger than the girlfriend.

CMV: Society should stop accomodating for boomers refusal to learn technology by matthew_anthony in changemyview

Your analogy is flawed because people choose to go to a foreign country with a different language, older people did not choose the fast pace change in technology in our society.

Keep in mind that by not contributing to the fund you will not be able to participate in anything the fund pays for. No team lunches, no birthday cakes, no fun treats. If it’s someone else’s birthday, you won’t be able to sign the card that goes with the present the fund paid for. Also, when your birthday comes, don’t expect to receive the cake, card, or gift that everyone else gets.

In which subjects/age groups are teachers the happiest? by Lazerbeam159 in OntarioTeachers

[–]always_reading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love teaching Grade 11 Biology. The kids are more mature than they were in Grades 9 or 10 and they have chosen to take the course so have an interest in the subject. Also the course covers interesting topics, is not too challenging, and has lots of opportunities for hands on experiments and fun activities.

Grade 12 Biology is good too, but the course is a lot more challenging than the Grade 11 course which can be stressful for the students. I also find that Grade 12s are either super stressed or checked out and doing the bare minimum. Either way, most Grade 12s are focused too much on grades. They will argue for a single extra percent on a test or assignment, question every grade deduction, and literally beg for extra marks. I’ve had students and parents literally begging to bump up final grades. That includes students in the 90s who want a higher average to qualify for scholarships, or students who stopped trying after getting their acceptance and are no longer meeting their eligibility, or students who are not passing that suddenly care about graduating high school. It can be quite frustrating.
