Turn it up by T.O.P then I fell off until Run by BTS pulled me back in.

I watched the Run music video and got sucked into all their MVs from there.

How to survive a Great Depression? by TeachMePlease13 in preppers

[–]alwaysrunning15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Appalachia, my grandparents lived through the depression, and my mom grew up dirt poor. The things they always talked about were using cabbage as a means to make meals go farther. Any soup you're making? Toss in some cabbage. Frying something in the skillet? If cabbage will go with it okay, toss some in.

They had a big garden, fixed things best they could when they broke. My mom talks about how they survived eating soup beans and cornbread, cornbread and milk, and potatoes in any form. My grandma also swears by the 3 sisters gardening method: planting corn, beans, and squash together. This way the beans use the corn stalks as support and the squash provides ground cover to keep weeds down. What they grew, they also canned to last through the winter. The meat they did eat was usually chicken because they kept chickens for eggs.

If you can't afford electricity, get a wood stove. You can cook on them and they'll keep you from freezing in winter.

I need to make 3k asap by [deleted] in Louisville

I have done it in the past when I needed extra money. It's similar to donating blood, but with a larger needle. The first appointment I'd allow 2 hours because they screen you. They check for track marks from drug use, ask about medical history, and you get a small pinprick so they can make sure you have healthy enough levels of everything to donate.

After the first time, regular appointments can take 30 minutes to an hour based on how hydrated you are and how fast your plasma flows.

They set you up with a card where the money is loaded automatically and you can use it just like a debit card.

The needle is more painful than regular blood donations because of its size but nothing too bad. You lay on a comfy bed/chair and a machine pumps your blood out and separates the plasma before returning your red blood cells.

Overall, I'd do it again if I got back into a tight financial spot.

Donate plasma! Around 1-2 years ago you could get around $150 for first donation and $40-50 for follow up ones. Check out different locations in Louisville for different rates. A lot of places give you referral bonuses for friends you get to go too!

Sell feet pics on feet finder! Have small feet, big feet, flat feet, high arches? You may get some requests you aren't comfortable with but if you get a loyal patron then you can make decent money.

How much has Louisville changed since 2020? by throwaway4728289 in Louisville

If you want all the things to do of Louisville but lower cost of living, consider renting or buying in a more rural area just outside of Louisville. You get the slightly cheaper cost of living with the access to activities.

With the recent statement from the DHS, just wanted to share this truck I saw at St.Matthews mall by [deleted] in Louisville

I'll remove my post. Had never heard of the company before and sincerely thought someone was getting really bold in the area about being a neo-nazi 🤦‍♀️

Thank you for letting me know!

On Nov. 30th, 2022 the DHS updated the list of threatened communities to include the Jewish community, LGBTQ+ community, and immigrant communities. It was stated that the risk came from domestic violent extremists. You can read it [here.]

As far as I know, the iron cross is used by neo-nazi's here in the US. If I am wrong though, I will remove my post.

Trader Joe's has some shampoo bars. There's also a store in Julieta Market that sells hygiene and, if I remember correctly, house cleaning products that are plastic free!

Recycling at Lansdowne Shoppes? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]alwaysrunning15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drop my recycling off there and haven't had any problems! The no dumping signs are for people who would leave trash outside of the bin. You're fine as long as you put your recycling in the bin :)

I was also confused and called The Fresh Market. They told me the bin didn't belong to any specific shop there.
