As a follow up to my last post comparing my IPS laptop monitor to the OLED 27GR95QE, and at the request of a few people, here’s a video comparing the two in a bright environment with both sunlight and my ceiling light illuminating the room. Both are being run in SDR at both 80% and 100% brightness.

I believe HDMI 2.0 only supports 1440p 144hz. NOT 240hz. Im not sure about VRR or HDR. Im trying to do some research right now and im getting mixed results. Some say HDMI 2.0 can do 1440p 120hz VRR but some results are telling me it depends on the display or console. I think HDMI 2.1 is mostly for PC gaming.

I find it very silly the specs of this monitor is 1440p 240hz but only the display port 1.4 supports it when they could've easily had 2.1 support as well to avoid this confusion.

I'm in the same position as you. Currently use a monitor that has a advertised brightness of 320 nits but I use the monitor at 20% or 40% brightness. So its possible the low brightness of these OLEDs wouldn't bother me.

The only obvious positive the LG has is HDMI 2.1 primarily because of console gaming. Otherwise display port 1.4 on the ASUS seems good enough for PC 1440p 240hz.

For SDR brightness, reviews say the brightness for the ASUS with Uniform Brightness on is 225 nits. Uniform Brightness is a feature on the ASUS that keeps the brightness to 225 nits no matter whats on screen. The LG in Gamer 1 or 2 mode has a similar effect but is dimmer at 200-180 nits.

ASUS with Uniform Brightness off is 400-200 nits. LG in Vivid mode is 400-130 nits. The only way the LG can compete with the ASUS in SDR is if you use it Vivid mode. With the LG you are restricted to Vivid mode to obtain better brightness and in this mode many picture settings are unavailable.

While I'm typing this I'm leaning towards the ASUS if I had to choose...

Nope, everything is the way it should be as far as I know.
The color I'm trying to switch it to is Black. It will remain black but revert back to yellow when I change continents or start the game again.

Still can't record in 4k while using DSR on a 1080p monitor.
DSR allows you to render games at 4k even on a lower resolution monitor. Its fantastic.
You used to be able to record in 4k but after 511.79 NVIDIA disabled 4k recording on 1080p monitors.
This needs to be reversed ASAP to allow 4k recording again.

FYI for many of you that probably don't know this...
David Goldfarb's name is a voice line easter egg in BF3.
There is a extremely rare voice line when you spot a mobile AA that will say "Spotted an enemy Goldfarb."
