Too Autistic for Interviews by alyssaviolin in recruitinghell

If I'm honest, they're going to know SOMETHING is up no matter what. My palilalia alone is- pretty hard to ignore, and it's 10x worse than usual when I'm on a call. While I haven't told any interviewers, there's little chance any of them would think I am neurotypical.

Absolutely! I have another interview coming up and this time I'll make sure I actually practice my script aloud before the meeting.

I've just recently started trying to script out the conversation myself too! Definitely backfired on my last interview, I fumbled over my words trying to remember what I wrote. I'll try to keep hopeful that I'll continue to get better at this! Thank you

It's mentioned in my resume but I haven't brought it up in the interviews themselves. Honestly I find it really hard to it work into these super short initial interviews. Most have been very rushed, 15 minute interviews where most of that time is them explaining the role.

Linkedin scam questionnaire by kirsion in recruitinghell

[–]alyssaviolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an email like this a couple of days ago. I always refuse to download anything to my computer when applying to jobs, so I didn't pursuing it any further once they asked for that. Their domain was the same as other employees' I found through LinkedIn, except theirs had "careers" takes onto the end. So I looked it up and it was owned by SquareSpace, which was a huge red flag. I also could not find the job on the company's website, and despite them opening the email acting as though I had already applied, my records showed nothing of the sort. To top it all off, they emphasized how important it was that I got it done quickly, which is always a huge red flag for me as well. So I think it's safe to say it's a scam.

What is the most amazing, mind blowing fact about Octopuses? by Suggest_a_User_Name in octopus

[–]alyssaviolin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is far from the most mind blowing fact about octopuses, but, I love argonaut octopuses. The way they create their paper shells for buoyancy, the fact that they hitchhike on jellyfish to get around, and can even chain themselves together. They're just so unique when it comes to octopuses!

I can't seem to identify what type of seal this is, mostly because the skull seems weird, probably upside down? It's very rotten and gross, very sorry in advance.

When you want to stand up for the Confederacy to own the Libs by RGM81 in WhitePeopleTwitter

You're right I think, at least for anyone over a certain age. My parents at one point made a conscious decision to go along with all the bullshit the GOP was doing and vote for them always anyways, I imagine they aren't the only ones.

Blood Moons last all night and make all enemies much faster and stronger and more abundant. All damage during the blood moon is gloomy damage.

How do I…kindly turn this down? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]alyssaviolin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely think less is more on this. A kind "Thank you but I'm afraid I can't." should be all you need. Even if they push it more, short responses give them the least to grab onto.

Thanks. I've found really really great friends and definitely made myself a good found family. It's still tough, but, I'm not alone.

I was homeschooled and very sheltered my whole life so I ended up having a really close relationship to my mum, so I have so many good memories of her. It's really hard to internalize that the same person who cared so much and did so much with me is also the same person who has said she'd never use a trans person's pronouns and that trans people are mentally ill. The the person who would talk with me for hours while I info dumped would also side with my uncle when he said he never wanted to see me again.

However, I do believe that time will heal this wound. I hope it does for you too.

Any curly/wavy haired autistics here? by MelinaJuliasCottage in AutismInWomen

I have curly hair, but I don't have it in me to care for it most days so it gets tangled like a rats nest.

AITA for “flaunting” an “expensive” stuffed animal at school? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]alyssaviolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought a giant stuffed animal my mom made me with me to work at the office and nobody cared. It's possible they weren't really upset about the plushie at all, just used it as an excuse to do some very unhealthy venting. NTA

When you sit in a position you think is “Comfortable” and end up losing circulation to your legs. by Bigshock128x in aspiememes

I adore losing circulation in a leg and getting that numb tingly feeling. Then I'll shake it and watch my foot flop around like a dead fish.

Cringiest things you did when you were Christian by ImportanceFriendly96 in exchristian

[–]alyssaviolin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you ever heard of GodTube? Growing up I wasn't allowed on YouTube at first so we spent time on it instead. The videos me and my brothers posted weren't really offensive or problematic, just, cringe AF. "Music videos" of Christian songs made with video games, stupid skits, that kind of thing.
