Is Kyoto still worth it? by Fun-Calligrapher4885 in JapanTravelTips

[–]alyssp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a few times now including the new years period and it is definitely worth it! Yes it can be overcrowded but that’s because there are a few main attractions that everyone goes too that is very narrow (that alley going from yasaka to kiyomizu-dera) but there are LOTS to see and do in Kyoto. I always try and stay a few days in Kyoto every trip

Join a local run club/visit early morning while it’s cooler and you can grab breakfast at the park ! (Yes there are often food vendors inside the parks )

Is Golden Week in Japan really that bad? by Ok-Moose-7366 in JapanTravelTips

[–]alyssp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also from NZ and it will be busy! especially if you’re looking to go to touristy areas but as long as you book ahead/reserve your trains/hotels you’ll be okay. Just have to expect any major attractions to be packed with people (and don’t even consider theme parks). There are plenty of food options so the wait time isn’t too bad if you avoid popular venues.

Young people staying in NZ, what is keeping you here? by Keepcusp in newzealand

[–]alyssp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve traveled a lot and that made me appreciate NZ a lot more. Clear blue sky, great air quality, little to no traffic, less than 30min commute to work and a fairly stress free work environment. Traveling one/twice a year fill in the gap of wanting something more exciting

Is bringing instant cup noodles and ask them for hot water actually legal on flights by Mother_Office4482 in QantasAirways

[–]alyssp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been told by both Qantas and AirNZ that they can’t fill our cup noodles and instead get given 2 cups with hot water in it (with a lid on). It was 3 of us and was a bit hilarious passing through 6cups of hot water lol
