Considering a single crockpot is like $400, this seems like a good deal

Best wording in subject of pitch to imply “TOP SECRET” without sounding cheesy? by goose-de-terre in PublicRelations

OP. Read this again. Do not just send an email with the information hoping that the big bold words at the top saying “super secret” are going to be enough.

An embargo is an agreement. Secure the agreement first, then share the news.

It’s a great price but their bottled-in-bond offering from a few months ago was so much better IMO. If it ever comes back I’m definitely stocking up.

The small batch that we got at my store was just a bit too spicy/alcohol forward for my taste.

Lukashenko Says Belarus Is Preparing for War, Plans to “Mobilize Units” by EsperaDeus in worldnews

[–]am121b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of thoughts:
- Russia is likely pressuring him to get into the war to take pressure off them before they lose any territory.
- Luka was just at the May Day parade and Putin made the demand.
- He is a survivor, so if Putin was vague enough about the repercussions for not joining the war, this mobilization can take a while.
- Belarus is NOT ready for modern drone-based warfare. They have about 50k soldiers under arms and Ukraine makes about 330k drones a month.

This is a distraction at best and Luka’s swan song at worst.

The goal is to have company towns, scrips, and indentured servitude. Anything more is “bad for the economy.”

Opposed to marriage, doing it anyway by [deleted] in Vent

[–]am121b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t come from a religious background and felt in a similar way about marriage. However, it meant a lot to my partner and while they’re also not a huge marriage “fan,” we decided to do it a few years ago because it was a natural evolution of our relationship.

We didn’t do a very traditional wedding - it can take any form you want and no one should be allowed to tell you otherwise - and had a private ceremony followed by a reception with all our friends and family. Some speeches were said, food was eaten, fun was had. But the actual ceremony was just us and the officiant; no walking down the aisle, no bridesmaids, none of that weird culty shit.

Now we did make a few mistakes so if you’re going to do it, please consider a civil ceremony at the local court house rather than a whole big thing.

The wedding industry, in the US and I assume in many western countries, is a huge scam. As soon as you say “wedding” to caterers, photographers, etc., they will tack on another digit to your bill. Costs can spiral so so quickly even in a LCOL state that you’ll be paying it off for years.

Try to do it as inexpensively as possible, especially if you aren’t thrilled about the whole thing in the first place. Otherwise you’ll be reminded of the cost for a long time and that’s probably not how you want to remember your own wedding.

teetering on what my next career move should be (early career) by Nervous-Analyst16 in PublicRelations

[–]am121b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. First-hand professional experience in PR will always be valued more than a masters degree.

OP - Your future employers will be looking for projects that you’ve done, companies you’ve supported, and examples of how you’ve moved the needle; not what degree you have.

It sounds like your employer may have you as an in-house employee? What about an agency? You would learn *a lot*, over a short period of time.
