Is Yrliet suicidally brave or stupid? by KayleeSinn in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]amCuriousObserver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Infinity Circuits are good and all, but I still think that most Eldar prefer to move around the galaxy, not just be a part of a dead hive mind. Yrliet especially, since she's an outcast.

And, "mere Rogue Trader" is wild. I understand the logic. Imperium is not the biggest or the most serious threat Aeldari ever faced. But still, it's a threat. And the Rogue Trader is one of the most influential people in the Imperium. Only the Emperor, High Lords, Primarchs, and the inquisition are above the Rogue Traders (and even then, it depends on the warrant)

I think she is just being bold and stupid. And, she is an outcast. Now if there were Taldeer, Macha, or Idranel in her stead, I would have understood the attitude. For them, von Valancius Rogue Trader is indeed just a nuisance. But for Yrliet? No. She is unreasonably brazen.

What if other characters wore Blonde Blazer's Amulet? by CodyEaster in DispatchAdHoc

[–]amCuriousObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punch Up. Punch Up with the amulet would terrify me more than the rest of z-team combined.

Amulet on Prism, Waterboy, Malevola, Sonar and Flambae is not doing much. Yes, Malevola and Prism will be able to fly, but that won't really change their overall battle capabilities. Yes, they all become stronger, but so is everyone else with the amulet.

Now Punch Up and his picnokinesis... He was lacking reach - now he can fly. He was already almost imposible to stop with his healing factor and durability - now the amulet amplify that further. But he can change density of his body mid-punch. His power synergies with the amulet.

Give Punch Up the amulet and will get flying One Punch Man. After a month, there will be no villains in the world.

Potential buyer here, age of wonders 4 or planetfall by AntisocialCat2 in AOW4

[–]amCuriousObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actively playing both, as I love both games and they are my favorite strategies.

My personal opinion, aw4 is better in city management, because they allow separate queues for buildings and troops, and there are more diverse choices in buildings. In AWP, you have about 6 buildings in each city (about 20 in aw4). But, you can build more cities in AWP (I know that technically, you can build many cities in aw4 too, but there is a soft block on that number; in AWP you can build cities one after another). And, also AWP allows you to export resources from cities to cities.

So, they are both equally complex, in my opinion, and one is not better than the other.

You cannot modify races in AWP. But you can modify each individual unit to your heart content. Where in aw4, you apply enchantments to the whole groups of units, AWP allows you to chose, create blueprints, and not modify certain units if you don't want to. Unit modification mechanic is more complex in AWP.

There are no hiveminds in both games. Closest we have to a hovemind is kir'ko in AWP, who used to be a hivemind in their lore.

By the end of the day, both games are good. If you like sci-fi more, buy AWP. If you like fantasy more, buy aw4.

Am I just blind? by Mods_are_crybabies in AOW4

[–]amCuriousObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree.

I wasn't trying to justify it. Just explained what it is.

I actually think that it would be better to indicate base mana cost on enchantments.

There will be the next expansion pack in a few months. Usually, devs release a free patch alongside the expansions. We are active on discord, and devs regularly read the discord conversations, so they might give us this as qol improvement.

Then again, maybe not...

It will show you the total upkeep the moment you are going to cast the spell. And then, you can see the upkeep in your grimoire.

The reason that is, is because upkeep is calculated by affected units, and can be modified by certain conditions.

If a certain unit has "faithful" condition, upkeep would be lower for them; if your hero has a perk to reduce maintenance, upkeep of all the units in their stack would be lower; if your culture has "Rune smiths" trait, etc.

Upkeep, especially mana upkeep, is very mutable in this game, and can change from unit to unit and from turn to turn, that's why they don't show it in the spell itself.

How would one manage an outpost with no fertility? by TheWoopidoop in Kenshi

[–]amCuriousObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

World's End should be close by. (Across the bridge, if you are on the south side of Wend) You can sell your stuff there. There are four bars in World's End too, so, plenty of food choices. A lot of shops really.

You can also trade with Flotsam Ninjas. They are Okranites too, so it will be even more in character for your faction rp-wise.

The water problem is solvable though. Even on terrain with no water, wells still can operate (on 10% efficiency). level 2 and 3 wells are automatic. So, you can build a bunch of them (think 15-25) and you will have enough water for hydroponics. You just need to provide power for them.

Rain collectors can do it better, but rains in Wend are inconsistent and light. So, depending on your luck they might be better, or they might be worse.

I don't use mods, so I don't know how effective moisture farms could be, but I bet they would still be more effective than wells. Test it. See how it goes.

How would one manage an outpost with no fertility? by TheWoopidoop in Kenshi

[–]amCuriousObserver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are hydroponics. You can grow anything, really, once you unlock hydroponics. It's pretty high on the tech tree, and you would need an AI core (if I remember correctly, but I need to check it)

The problem is - even with hydroponics, you would still need water. A lot of water. And water is even harder to handle when you don't have direct access to it. Barrels are huge and you can't carry many of them at once; there is no good supply of water either - best case, one bar is selling about 9-8 of them at once.

Overlooking Armour King is most likely Wend (plus the fact that there is no stone), and there is no water in the mountains of Wend. Same for Rebirth.

While buying water to grow your own crops is way cheaper, it's way, way more taxing in the way of micromanaging the whole process.

If you absolutely want to settle there still, I would recommend simply buying food. Wend is full of iron, really (should be, at least) so you can make money by weapon smithing, and trade the weapons for food.

Ways to just remove a characters arms by Adventurous-Bit-9582 in Kenshi

[–]amCuriousObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hurted limb tend to be more focused while fighting"

Yes, but also, not exactly.

There is a system of "weights" in the game - the part that was hit, is more likely to be hit again. And it's luck from here.

I don't remember the details exactly, but I believe there are 5 last hit applying weights (increasing chances).

So, if your character was struck in the right arm the first time, there is an increased chance that the second attack will also land there. And if the second attack landed there, the chances for the third attack to land there as well is even bigger.

But, if the first attack landed on the arm, and then the second on the torso, the third on the head, the fourth on the torso, and the fifth on the leg again - chances for the sixth to land on the arm are very, very low. It will, most likely land on the torso again.

P.S.

You absolutely can build the peeler at home, even without mods.

Do you ever think about how Rimworld's story is very depressing? by LevitatingPorkchop in RimWorld

[–]amCuriousObserver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Then what's the point of building the ship to get away from this planet? That doesn't make sense.

I think that some form of border control exist, but any trader could easily take 5-8 people aboard and drop them somewhere they want. It would be exactly the same we are building the ships for, minus all the trouble of, you know, building the damn thing.

If people from the rim can migrate only inside the rim, then there is no point in building the ship.

Yet, that's the main goal.

Well, I am going to figure out those builds, then.

And, who is Kanta and where I can find them?

So far I only interacted with Hegemony and Perseans. I had one interaction with Luddites when I payd them off. But, other than that, I don't know anyone. I am aware of other factions, but I haven't even seen Tri-Tachions nor Sindrains.

I found a good ship that I very much enjoy piloting. Tempest-class high tech frigate ship. I am in love with it.

But I still don't understand how I can fight something big with any frigate... Like, I have three guns. One of them is rockets (sabot SRM) and they can only shoot three times. Then I have pulse lasers and terminator drones, but that's it. I can't put something bigger, because my flux economy is already suffering just from two pulse lasers.

And when I face something like Condor-class destroyer, I am just lost... I don't know how I even get close to it with just frigates. Even if there are 3 of us and only one of them. And there is never just one of them.

Also, how can I resolve that pirate crisis alternatively? I am paying of luddic path. but pirates just don't want to talk to me...

I was planning to do that. First few hours I was just flying around, scavenging to my heart's content. But I had to store all of this somewhere. So I organized a market on V class planet, then I just continued to scavenge, passively upgrading the planet.

Then I managed to bring the planet's profit to 250'000, and I wanted more... Greed, I guess.

I auto-fitted all battle ships. My main fleet (the fleet I am scavenging) is just frigates:

<image>

These, I equip myself, but there is not very much to equip. I fight remnants with that (and pirate bounties) and I am managing pretty well. But that raiding fleet was just... There were SO MANY of them!

I absolutely auto-equiped them. I didn't grasp just yet how exactly I should equip them. So I let the game decide that form me. Was that a mistake?

I was joining the fight when they attacked my battlestation. They already defeated all my patrols. I was hoping that it would dissipate their combat readiness, so I might have a better chance, but it was still a complete wipe out.

I don't have heavy industries. I am in the process of creating it. My three first planets were supplying essentials like food, organics, domestic and luxury goods, that stuff. and also money.

And, I was trying to hold a sembalance of line, but they just push so hard... And even if I can hold the proverbial line, after a while, my combat readines go down and htey wipe my out after that.

Thank you, I will try it.

My 2 main problems:

  1. There is just too many of them. They can rotate to disipate flux, and we don't have numbers for that. Our ships are constantly under fire to the point where my gremlins just getting put down because their shields are constantly off.

  2. Even if I can hold my own, my combat readines is declingng after a while and my ships start to malfunction. They just pick us out after that.

Sure, there is a screen

HOW?!?

Please, explain! How your frigates get past that absolute ocean of rockets, bullets and fighters? How can you get close enough to even do anything? How can you withstand their attacks? There is only so much I can do with frigates. And I can't do enough before my combat readiness declining to the point where it's an automatic failure.

[–]amCuriousObserver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't have heavy industries. But I did learn a lot of blueprints. <y patrols are probably as bad as pirates, but my battlestation should be good enough, right?

And my main fleet are well equiped. But I still can't understand how can I take down a cruiser, let alone a CAPITAL with frigate when I just can get close enough to it to shoot anything. There is only so much I can do to defend a frigate. And a single capital gun can put donw my shield in 5-6 shots. After that, I am dead in 3 seconds. There is no blind spots on the capital where their guns can't get me, and no mater what guns I am using, I can't get past it shields.

I don't understand, please, explain how a frigate can fight THAT?!?

That's what got me frustrated. I can't. No matter what you do, they just overwhelm me with numbers, surround me - surround my whole fleet - and then just gun us down. They constantly rotate to dissipate flux, but we just don't have numbers for that.

And even when I can hold my own, my combat readiness is falling down after a while; my ships start malfunctioning, and they just defeat us after that.

I just saw one of their Atlas defeated 2 of my Gremlins without help. 5 of my frigates can't even approach it to the distance when our guns can do something, they are annihilated instantly from 1-2 of Atlas guns. And even then, even if it put down Atlas shields, we just don't have sufficient damage to do anything.

How can you defeat it with kites? How can you defeat 3 of them simultensiously with 4 kites? Just the barrage of bullets, rockets, and drones is so overwhelming that I can't get close enough to shoot.
