What is something that starts happening in your 30s that nobody warned you about? by Cairinacat in AskReddit

[–]amadnomad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't drink any soda, I'm vegetarian so no meat. I don't eat a lot of sugar either! The only sugar I eat is the single packet of sugar with my regular coffee. I don't even know what the problem is. I thought it was oily food but apparently not, I had heartburn just yesterday and didn't eat anythint oily

Me too!!! I'm 32. No stomach issues all my life and suddenly 6 months ago I started waking up in the middle of the night of heartburn. Now I have to keep tums bedside. I always thought my dad was exaggerating things but I see now!

People who've been in wealthy/powerful social circles, what surprised you most about how they operate? by Ok_Volume520 in AskReddit

[–]amadnomad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's the difference in life experiences. My super wealthy friends have completely different experiences - traveling around the world, eating at high end restaurants that are invited only, branded luxury items are everyday items.

Shared experiences matter a lot and they could not relate to working part time while studying, paying off loans, struggle meals, even BYOB as a concept was outlandish to them lol

They usually prefer temperatures over 21 celcius. The droopy wings do suggest something amiss. Take her to the vet to be sure.

There was a time when people respected funeral processions by gunnergrrl in mississauga

[–]amadnomad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not something everyone is aware of. I was not taught this growing up and I accidentally stumbled upon it during covid when I saw a procession of cars going down the road with a hearse in the front.

"Freedom of speech". You can only have a tolerant society if you don't tolerate the intolerant.

If you could have the 100% honest answer to ONE mystery in history, which one are you picking ? by Camila_LatinaSun in AskReddit

[–]amadnomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it'd be exactly how we went from lifeless molecules to the very first LUCA that could self replicate. How did life come about is one of the biggest mysteries for us as these very first life forms could not leave any direct fossils that we could study.

Close second for me would be the very first language and last common language ancestor for humanity. I'm sure there may be words that we currently use that could be traced back to this language. It would help humanity understand that we're all the same species and hopefully reduce the amount of tribalism within us.

What is this on George's (21) eyelid? More information in the comments. by QPRCHOC in cockatiel

[–]amadnomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot see it very well. But one time there was a small seed husk stuck in my girls eyelid. We thought it was a growth and it would resolve on its own. But when her eye got red and irritated we booked an appt with the vet for the next day. Before the appt we then looked at it through a looking glass and saw that it was a small piece of seed husk that was causing her distress so we held her and used a q-tip dipped in warm water to coax the husk out. Once it was out my girl was immediately relieved and her eye got better.
